Excellent. He will be a useful piece on future Jays teams.

Doubt it, Pompey is out of options next year. Unless he makes the team over Alford, Hernandez and Smith Jr he's not going to be here for the long term.

I bet they give him a long leash next year, as those guys have options. Just saying...

IMO he’s more likely to be traded.

Hard to know how this season will play out, but you gotta think Grichuk will be given every opportunity to succeed, Pillar still has CF locked down, Teo has impressed enough to have a starting role as a corner OF. Alford definitely looks like he needs more time in the minors at this point. DSJ could be up as a 4th OF next year, I don't think he's ever really profiled as a starter. Pompey's best chance would be to beat out either DSJ for a bench role or Grichuk for a starter role IMO

Pillar, far more likely

By the way, I am not pegging Pompey for a starting role, but as a 4th OF, late inning defensive replacement, pinchrunner / basestealer

He has some very nice tools useful as a (league min) 4th OF

You just described Pompey's ceiling.

If the Jays fall further out I'd be very open to Toronto moving Pillar for anything of value. Run with Pompey, Grichuk and Hernandez as your starters in LF, CF and RF and use DSJ as your 4th OF for the season and see what happens. It's time for Pompey to sink or swim and if he fails at least when he's let go or taken on waivers you're happy you've seen enough to make a safe judgement that he has no future with the team. Toronto would of course need to release Morales and use Granderson and Pearce as DH/OF/1B options off the bench.

I think today's game will be a turning point and the start of a winning streak!

You realize you're replying to a poster named Banned, right?

Why Gibby is refusing to let Oh to close the game.. Oh is a guy who has total of 396 saves in Korea, Japan, and the MLB (277 in Korea, 80 in Japan, and 39 in the MLB. He of course has the lowest ERA in the bullpen right now

Smith Jr can play that role and still has options.

A bit surprised at this:

Well that was a short call up!

Martin has a great glove but curious to see how the arm and range is. He's 35 years old

Nothing wrong with his arm. Range maybe... but his arm is as good as it's ever been

I'm more concerned about the DP. Also, with Jaime the Phillies are starting an almost entirely RH lineup, which will likely mean a lot of balls being pulled to SS and 3B.

His throws from behind the plate have been pretty bad this year. Throws from SS are completely different though.

I figure Solarte at SS and Travis at 2B would be 20000000% better but we shall see

Solarte is too out of shape to play SS it appears. He'll be a bad influence on Vlad - buffet for days

I do hope the Jays rework the clubhouse buffet for Vlad's benefit.
