Ray Verified Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I like how the Jays have targeted young players with upside, and seem to have little interest in the older players on the market. Other than Jay Bruce, of course. We ended up with a younger and more athletic version of Jay Bruce in Grichuk anyways.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Garcia + Hernandez I'm on board with Hernandez at the right price. He bounced back in a big way last year. He threw a slider (errr maybe a cutter) last year almost 25% of the time after almost exclusively throwing fastball/curveball only for the past 6 years. It certainly gives hope that his strong performance last year is sustainable. Either way, he's someone I've always liked.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Garcia + Hernandez Agreed on Garcia. Don't really care who the reliever(s) are. There are a bunch that would be worth cheap one year deals. As long as they don't burn millions on loogy's anymore.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Jays interested in Chris Tillman.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Jays interested in Chris Tillman. I think most people would want them to do better here than Tillman for the 5th spot. I have little faith in his ability to bounce back
Ray Verified Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Not sure if this was posted, but Stroman lost his Jordan sponsorship: https://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2018/01/14/sponsorship-breakup-another-chip-for-jays-stroman.html Also tweeted this: “Crazy that I had to end my partnership with my @Jumpman23 family because they didn’t want me to spread the message of #HDMH to the world,” Stroman tweeted. “Hurts beyond belief. Either way, the climb continues!”
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Jays interested in Chris Tillman. You would think he would want to get as far away from the AL East as humanly possible.

I have little faith in his ability to bounce back Depends on the cost, on a short term contract at a relatively low AAV we could do a lot worse IMO. But yes I agree we should be looking for a Cobb level player, in part as insurance for when Happ and Estrada are gone next year.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Is it time to move Jon Harris to the bullpen?
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Is it time to move Jon Harris to the bullpen? I can't see this FO giving up on Harris as a starter. The only way I see him moving to the pen is if it's in Toronto.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2018 Author Posted January 24, 2018 Is it time to move Jon Harris to the bullpen? Interesting question - IMO it’s worth giving him another year to see if he can make adjustments.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Who is Hutchinson? Hutchison, but spelled wrong.
Fiddlehead Verified Member Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Simmons is a prick, but that tweet is funny. I’d like to see a Sportsnet guy throw a few bombs....

The only way I see him moving to the pen is if it's in Toronto. he's 24 and has shown almost no signs of having what it takes to be a MLB starter. not sure how it works, is this his last MiLB season before he has to be protected? if so, put him in the pen, late inning guy, see if the velocity uptick makes a difference
