I would guess the Sox would say no to that.

 

Especially with the extra year of control for JBJ. Apparently they declined immediately.

hmmmm a straight up offer is kind of insulting

 

you'd have to be a specific kind of stupid to prefer Puig - even if you are very slow and you look at HR and RBI in the last two years, JBJ is way ahead (43 and 150 vs. 39 and 119).

Yeah same, but IRL it's a bad idea for Boston. Selling low on JBJ to buy high on Puig, giving up control and CF defense.

Laughing at the Royals is completely counterproductive unless you're a fan of a team that plays them 19 times a year. Having a 100+ loss team for the next seven years in another division is not the least bit helpful to the Jays' playoff hopes. Add in Detroit and you guys are all going to have fun screaming about 87-win Twins teams with a $60 million dollar budget and a negative run differential that get a wild card spot every year.

Yeah that really screws the O's - they'll have to pay him in arbitration, he won't help the team (assuming they're out of the playoff picture by the time he's back), and they may struggle to trade him at the deadline if he isn't back to full fitness.
