Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Ohtani has more home runs than functioning ucl's tonight.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Apparently Trevor Story just hit a HR 505 feet. Earlier in the game he hit one ~460 while falling down on the swing The improvements he made from 2017 to 2018 are tremendous

Those are the only 500+ bombs.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 There goes Story's 3rd home run of the game!
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Welp... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/09/tommy-john-surgery-recommended-for-shohei-ohtani.html For f***’s sake, baseball really is the worst. Now anticipating Vlad’s knees to explode next year as confirmation.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Hech just made one hell of a play.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Probably not. Matt Wieters missed a full calendar year. I guess he could probably DH sooner. Ohtani should be able to return as a DH at some point next season, catchers need longer because they need to be able to throw out base stealers.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 A 1.7BB% at AAA, oh my. I know, gross.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Does being obsessed with Ohtani and furiously masturbating to his slider make you a weeb?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Sad news aside... Ohtani went 4-4 with a BB, 2 Dingers and a SB, Stud! He should know doubt get the surgery done as I've said in the past, he should be ready to DH by ST.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I can't seem to find video where Blackmon's life flashed before his eyes, this Harden stare is getting way out of control, lol. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/4/6/0/293552460/090418_hou_bregman_james_harden_1.gif Found it, this is scary AF! https://www.mlb.com/video/blackmon-beaned-in-head/c-2471221183

A decent throw and he's out by a mile. With 1 out, you stay at third in that situation.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Paul Goldschmidt is incredible. Ties game with a solo homer for the D-Backs in the 9th inning with 2 outs and down to his last strike.

I swear I was told before the season that Arizona was gonna be a terrible hitting environment this year, and Goldy's numbers would tank due to it. Actually taking a closer look his home numbers aren't wonderful (although I think a large part of it is bad luck), offset by stellar road numbers. His hard hit percentages are absolutely bonkers both home and away.

I said something like you might move him from the 4th guy on your list to the 8th or something. Homeruns have been significantly down this year in Arizona but it's going to take a few years to get enough data to see the true impact but it seems to be having a significant effect so far.

Also - Goldy had a brutal start to the year and was having REAL trouble with hard throwers. I think at one point he was the worst hitter in baseball on fastballs 95 MPH+ Like all great hitters (he's 43rd all time in wRC+), he made the adjustment and is now pounding ML pitchers harder than Ron Jeremy circa 1986.

This is incredible. Also, and I will probably go to hell for this... "To say that a card with scouting reports on it is a “foreign substance” is just an absurd interpretation."
