All those Jays fans who said they wanted Lerner (or an individual willing to take a loss to get a ring) as an owner...take note. No matter how much an owner throws at a team, they should never have any say. At least Rogers stays out after they give the budget

Because the Rockies are very incompetent.

Interviewed with the Rockies not too long ago for a R&D data engineer position. When I asked them how big their analytics department was, they told me it's about 5 people in total. That's never going to cut it in this day and age. I'm pretty sure even small market teams like the DBacks and Rays employ more in their analytics department. Not only that, they also wanted to severely underpay me offering me $50,000 when the average salary for that position in Denver is $120,000. Granted, I know it's sports and I was willing to sacrifice pay just to work in baseball, but those guys wanted me to work dirt cheap. I told them $75,000 is the lowest I'd go otherwise no dice. They told me I can take a hike and they have tons of other people who are interested.

I also asked about how involved ownership is with the team and the guy didn't really give me a straight answer. But just reading between the lines, it seemed like ownership is way too involved for their own good. Guy also seemed pretty overworked and tired when I talked to him. Seems like a mess in that front office.

Rays entire front office is an analytics dept. Jays only had 1 full-time and 3 interns in theirs until 2015

Law at it again.

I like the move for the Cubs. They have a s*** ton of power from the left side now. Hardly any lefty killers making the playoffs in the NL (Dodgers have Stripling and Kershaw, Phillies have Nola and Pivetta but aren't making the playoffs, DBacks are pretty good against Lefties)

Wait what did Daniel Murphy do? Did Law catch him jay-walking in beautiful Arizona

Lol excuse you

I mean, you're not nearly as bad as Law but let's not pretend you two soyboys aren't cut from the same cloth.

He's very religious but not a Muslim.

Virrrrrrrrtuuuuuuuuueeeeee

Hey Keith, should we see how accepting religious Muslims are of gays? The answer may make your puny head explode.

This is what I mean where these people who think they are morally superior are just enormous *******s who just have a convenient excuse to make people feel like s***.

Just FTR what Daniel Murphy said about gay people does not mean he thinks they are inferior. Let alone should they be placed on the same wavelength as anti vaxxer f***wits.

That return for Murphy is bleh... we ain't getting sweet f*** all for Grandy, Estrada, etc...

Yeah, no kidding, or Donaldson. I'd rather the QO by far.

Of course not, no team would give up anything of value for half a season of those guys, let alone a month.

Well this was more for the crowd who thought we'd get something interesting. Murphy returned Andruw Monasterio, lol. Do you not remember the flack I received for laughing at the Grandy passing through waivers, thread?

I think Murphy's opinion is dumb but I also think he should be allowed to hold that opinion as long as he doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights. Law trying to play thought police suits him since I guess that's the only way he can feel like he's the authority.

Yep, flack was deserved

Many many differences. I do believe that language matters, and people should be held accountable for things they say and write. However, I don't believe in punishment the way Law does, and I certainly don't believe in online mob attacks. I think change is possible and that is the best outcomes of most situations. Daniel Murphy is a prime example of this. After his 2015 comments he and his wife contacted Billy Bean and now Murphy and Bean have a friendship (according to Bean anyway which I admit might be a PR thing...but a PR thing is still positive). If I were like Law I would have called out all the minor prospects who I (much credit to another person who started the research) found had wrote racial or homophobic things on Twitter. Instead I went to their teams to deal with them. In that case they might not learn, but I can hope that they do...without having to go through the public lynching. I guess that is the difference, I like to believe that people can be educated.

Why not? the level of health information they have?

Purely gut feel. I don't think he wants to stay (even his Toronto based Girlfriend is ready for LA...where she will get a cooking show for food no one ever eats) and the team will take the PR hit on this one to save JD's name and allow him to get a potential multi year.

OK, but don't the Jays need to QO him to be eligible for recompense?

Its the definition of first world problems. There are ~7.6 billion people on this planet, the idea that every person alive is going to have this cute Utopian cookie-cutter set of beliefs that "you" (Keith Law in this case) believe to be morally just is absurd. In this case, the "thought crime" is about as insignificant as you can get as Murphy has already clarified that he doesn't care what gay people do; which means that at worst he is a person who is tolerant yet holds an opinion that isn't nice, and to that: who gives a s***? Idiots like Keith Law need to learn to stop focusing so much energy on what others think about them or others. What, Daniel Murphy's opinion hurts the feelings of gay people? These people should already know to expect a certain level of intolerance, as unfair as that is its to be expected as we all belong to an imperfect species. Not only is there no reason to believe that Daniel Murphy poses a threat to perform any sort of hate-crime because of his belief, there is no indication that he's even doing anything to push his belief on anyone. One man who poses no threat holding a mean opinion is about as worthwhile to get enraged about as someone who doesn't like you because of the way you dress. Of course, for people like Keith Law its all about taking every opportunity to showcase their infallible moral compass. Of the however-billion people on this planet who don't approve of homosexuality on SOME level, Daniel Murphy probably slots in somewhere on the back end of whether or not you should give a s***.

Wow Kopech's breaking ball is completely devastating. Logan Forsythe just got destroyed by a couple of those combined with a nasty 98 mph heater on the outside corner with filthy armside run.
