Manny Machado is at -20 DRS as a shortstop this season. So much for that aspect of his value, but do teams trade for him as a SS or move him back to 3B knowing that he might throw a fit and potentially won't resign with you?

You're right - he's probably too stupid and stubborn to look at stats and accept that he's now s*** at shortstop.

He hit one today too.

hitting 100 but all taters

Yankees rocked Braves pitcher Newcomb last night, he went inside on Hicks and tasted a right-field porch home run, was doing a St Vitus's dance on the hill and in the dugout, then served one up to Higoshioka and didn't get through the 3rd.

I mean that's a great slide - but let's be honest...that's an incredible stupid decision by Baez. I know he put pressure on the defense, but I would guess that 8 times out of 10, he's thrown out at home. With runners on 1st and 3rd and nobody out - you don't take that kind of risk.

Reminds me of when I used to cringe when Vince Carter would take a 22 foot fade away...and then make it.

Quite the pitchers duel in Coors. Not often you hear those words in the middle of the summer.

s***, that was a helluva bomb by Iannetta. 1-0 Rockies.

Yay!

He played both the first 2 games of the Seattle series.

Will be interesting to see what team trades for him at the deadline. If they make him play Third he will have no choice. In the off-season he can tell teams he will only sign a Shortstop but right now he has no choice. The team that trades for him probably won't resign him anyway. He would be stupid not to test the market.

Olerud lives in Massachusetts, IIRC... just outside Boston.

Obviously I don't know his personality but from what he has said I could see him taking less money to play shortstop than 3rd. Playing shortstop seems to be very important to him.

I hate it when these kids get put at SS because they are the star player when they clearly aren't the best defender for that spot. A lot of this has to do with me getting pushed to 3B as a kid on my one team because the actual 3B was our best hitter and he wanted to play SS so the coaches let him. In retrospect I was a soft ass bitch for not speaking up.

He play wherever the f*** the team that pays him 30-35 million per year tells him to play.

And I'd play him at 3b. He's better defensively there.

Apparently he won't.

Manny doesn't feel the same way apparently.

He’ll follow the money. If that means playing 3B then he’ll settle in as a third baseman for the remainder of his career.

This, it's just a bit of noise/gamemanship.

This isn't gamesmanship. Machado has nothing to gain here and plenty to lose.

Depends on what fence he's sitting on, money or position, we don't know? I get your point, though.

detroit grounds crew must be the slowest in baseball

I was thinking the same thing. It looked like none of them had a clue what they were doing.

Usually I'll take a look at wikitravel.org

I look at that site before I travel somewhere, some good advice to be had there.
