Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Sure but relevant to the topic. K........... I've pooped... you?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 I did it at work... left went home, changed and showered, before anyone really knew. Threw my drawers in a garbage, called it a s***. lol
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 K........... I've pooped... you? I don't think you actually read my post.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Tim Collins DFA by the Nats, never did get that first Major league save.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Holy crap the Royals have a wRC+ of 48 start of June
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Meg Rowler just wrote a piece on Archie Bradley s***ing his pants in which she tried to decipher the day it happened. In the article she referenced a deadspin piece on the same topic which already had the date figured out. lmao what a derp
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Tim Collins DFA by the Nats, never did get that first Major league save. I wouldn't mind us claiming him. If we're going to be trading a few relievers potentially, we'll need some arms to replace them. Plus, with our unsettled closers role, it will be glorious when he picks up his first save with Hurl watching!
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 You think anyone goes into the Meg Rowley chats? I could never get myself to click it. I skim through them. They are mostly Mariners questions, then she tries to sprinkle in a few other teams because people complain. I was thinking about this yesterday. The chats are kind of silly. I don't think Meg or Jay Jaffe are more knowledgable than the average longtime fangraphs reader. I guess it's just a place to talk baseball, but I have no idea what questions I would ask them. It's not like they have inside information.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 She actually never says anything useful. I just clicked the chat now. 12:09 Gogo Gordon boots: Dee Gordon was good. Now he’s bad. Is Dee Gordon good, bad, or indifferent? 12:09 Meg Rowley: Dee Gordon is a very fun players whose skills, because they are deep but somewhat narrow, has a smaller margin for error than some other players. 12:10 Meg Rowley: His defense at second has been nice. 12:10 Cool: If Scherzer wins another CYA this year does he overtake Kershaw as the best pitcher of this generation? 12:11 Meg Rowley: This is a very fun question. I think that it would require us knowing more about the new state of Kershaw to say for sure. His peak is so peaky. But we might have failed to appreciate how close Scherzer was, and he just keeps chugging along. I think we need more time to know, but it’s more of a conversation than it used to be. What the f*** is this nonsense?

Meg Rowley: I’m more convinced than I was? I think I will always have a hard time believing that he can sustain success given the nature of TOS. But we’ve seen other guys do it (albeit not for too terribly long), so this might be a Meg issue.

The only current chats that are informative are Sullivan's. I don't really think Rowley or Jaffe know that much about baseball, and Sawchik is too busy hedging and giving caveats that his responses are meaningless. I guess McDaniel's could be good, but they're so snarky and condescending that the cringe factor makes them unreadable. I do think Rowley is a gifted writer though. Edited July 4, 2018 by BTS

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 A few days late--but check out this thread re: deferrals. Boy, are the Nats screwed: (oh and BTW, they're losing to the Red Sox again.)
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Once again, just hedging bets on everything she says. Exactly what the people want to read. Do you think she's a psychic? There is no other reasonable way to answer questions like this. If you want irresponsible and firm predictions that nobody has the information or intelligence to provide, get off Fangraphs.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Then she needs to write about things she knows about. I think she writes good baseball articles. She's just not the kind of person that fans should be expecting insight from in a chat. IMO there's a place for softer content like that at Fangraphs if it's well-written, and her articles are well-written.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Our old friend Deck McGuire is back with the Angels again (likely someone got hurt, likely Skaggs).. Angels org. is a joke. Of course, with no depth in AAA--much of their pitching have ERAs north of 5..

Would you rather he went to the Redsox or Angels.

So many names who haven't played for eons are still making piles of money. And yeah, the Nats are sooooo screwed. What is there annual cost, $40M in deferred payments? OMG. Baseball should outlaw these contracts.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Phillies sign Goins to a Minor League deal

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Looks like the Market is picking up for Machado and the Orioles should get a pretty good haul if they don't f*** it up. Really pissed that Donaldson has been so s*** this year and hurt.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Manny Machado is at -20 DRS as a shortstop this season. So much for that aspect of his value, but do teams trade for him as a SS or move him back to 3B knowing that he might throw a fit and potentially won't resign with you?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Baez steal of home was pretty damn sexy!
onwego Verified Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 (edited) Yankees catcher Higoshioka is the third Yankee to hit 2 home runs for his first 2 hits in MLB, since 1920. Joe Lefebvre and Alfonso Soriano were the others. Soriano went 3 for 3, over 2 seasons. come to think of it, the Lefebvre card was great off the bench for the 1980 Yankees in Statis Pro Baseball.
