Angels continue to fall back towards the mediocrity they have been since 2009 (except for 2014)-- down 7-0 to the freaking Giants. Looks like Houston will regain 1st place at the end of the night where they belong. And that's next on the Angels sked--a return back to .500 or less is beckoning on the Angels as their lack of pitching depth beyond Ohtani (Heaney was awful), bullpen overuse and middling offense continue to haunt the team.

Ohtani with another couple of hits at least. I’m not sure that any team with him and Trout in it can be said to have a “middling offense”.

A few reasons for the middling offense:

1. Pujols - enough said

2. Calhoun is slumping hard--.192/.222/.256.

3. Outside of Trout and Simmons, the lineup struggles to get on base.

And as for why the Angels are suddenly is slumping--look at their pitching. Even with a 4.22 ERA, they've given up the most HRs, and walk way too many batters (4.1 BB/9IP, 2nd worst in the AL), and because their starters struggle to get length, the team has had to go to the bullpen frequently(89.2 IP, most in baseball). Eventually, this can take a toll on the team. They're going to be basically zapped by the All-Star break at their current pace.. they need length from their starters.

Looks....yep, Upton, Kinsler and Cozart are still on the team!

Trout, Ohtani, Upton, Kinsler, Simmons, Calhoun, Cozart.

Pretty sure this team is going to score runs. They catch it well too. Pitching is their issue.

The only thing slumping is the quality of your posts!

Freeman, Albies, Acuna and Swanson is a pretty sweet young core.

Yep, plus Austin Riley and promising pitching prospects for days.

Not sure if it was posted, Danny Farquhar is in critical condition due to brain hemorrhage.

King mentioned it in the GDT an aneurysm... I saw him collapse in the dugout last night, but didn't think it was that serious... Crazy!
