BTS Community Moderator Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 But still... Fire the manager Surely that will help their pitching staff get outs. What a terrible org.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Actually, it might help their pitching staff. Here's a list of Reds relievers who have entered games in higher leverage situations than Amir Garrett, who has been mowing everyone down since the start of spring training: Kevin Quackenbush Austin Brice Zack Weiss Jared Hughes Wandy Peralta Raisel Iglesias (OK this makes sense)

BTS Community Moderator Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I know you're high on him, but Amir Garrett projects pretty terribly as well lol. It's like this: I've watched Amir Garrett this year, and I've watched Kevin Quackenbush this year, and using Garrett in a lesser role than Quackenbush is insane. Garrett has looked amazing since the start of spring. He's back to throwing 95, and he's commanding the fastball most of the time, and the slider enough of the time.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 It sounds like maybe Freddie Freeman avoided a broken wrist possibly hopefully.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 The reds will never do it, but the only way a deal exists between Jays and Reds is if they take Tulo back, and then take a small piece like Hernandez and maybe a pitching prospect SRF That way you are still on the hook for about $80M with Votto, but you have a serious bat for the next few years.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 If there's anything that might stop the Red Sox--it might be that they're hitting way over their head. Their BABIP is .319-- with JD Martinez, Mookie Betts, and HanRam leading the way (and before he was injured, Bogaerts). How will the Red Sox manage when these guys finally slump? (A's have the highest BABIP at .325) Jays are at .302, BTW--which shows they're about at the average, with a number of guys (Grichuk, Travis, Martin) hitting well below the mean.. imagine if the entire team starts hitting? Indians have been the most unlucky at .240--they will turn it around sooner or later. I mean, this Cleveland team is supposed to be a top-tier team--it's time to show it. Of course, it's a small sample size.

You would also have to factor in the guys that are on the high side of the average regressing down, in addition to the guys on the low side of the average regressing upwards.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 The Redsox are more likely to maintain a babip of .319 than the Jays to maintain theres at .302 I think Cleveland might take a step back this year, EE, Kipnis, Brantley those are ageing bats, and I've never been a fan of Alonso. They are going to miss letting Santana go.

Of course, it's a small sample size. The Red Sox have also had an insanely favorable schedule so far. 7x Rays, 2x Marlins, 4x O's. That's 13 of 18 games against punching bags, which usually means you get to hit against crap too. We're probably 9 of 14 plus whatever you consider Texas as, which is pretty favorable too. Now we get 4x Yankees and 3x Red Sox, so time to see if we're a legit top end team.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Weaver getting BABIPth to death. Singles after singles after singles.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 FFS.... wasn't his injury last year also from a HBP? You're good, buddy. He's in the line-up tonight. I'm quite shocked to be honest.

I'll admit it when it's apparent to me, I've waited a long time to get him back healthy, I haven't given up. Why didn't you take a Ramos and 21 for Miggy, stating you rather get nothing, same difference, idiot.

At least Cabrera is still an asset, unlike Cobb whom, without looking, you're probably still starting every time he throws.
