Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Jon Heyman used to be lead baseball writer for Sports Illustrated, now he writes for something called FanRag. RIP
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I'm not marketing expert, but FanRag has got to be one of the worst names you could choose.
pasieq Verified Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Hi guys, I'm flying to Toronto in April, and I would really love to go to one of the Blue Jays' matches. Are there any safe options where I can buy tickets apart from the MLB official site? I've heard about pages such as box-officetickets.com, but opinions about them are not so favourable, and I'm not sure If I am willing to risk my money this way. Thank you in advance

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Stubhub works. Tickpic works better IMO, no hidden fees.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Eno is leaving fangraphs. Oof, that's a huge loss.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Eno is leaving fangraphs. There goes the only remaining FG writer who isn't a self-important poindexter.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 There goes the only remaining FG writer who isn't a self-important poindexter. I like Sullivan a lot. And Cistulli, but he doesn't write about baseball.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Mookie Betts wins his arb case. $10.5M salary for 2018. He's well on his way to Mike Trout money in a few years..

Ray Verified Member Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Avila to the DBacks for 2 years and $8.25M. That is a steal of a deal. Backup catcher money.

Meanwhile, the Yankees, Jays and Rays have made moves since the offseason started--while the Red Sox have sat on their hands and still haven't signed JD Martinez or any bench or bullpen help. And it's only 2 weeks till spring training..

And it's only 2 weeks till spring training.. Well the Red Sox will sign JD Martinez. It's really a matter of when and not if. Either they have to offer more or JD Martinez comes down to there offer. They are really bidding against themselves so no really hurry to get that done. If the Padres are considering offering Hosmer the type of money rumoured to be out there. They should probably be in the running for Martinez if Hosmer returns to the Royals.

Unless a "mystery team" decides to show up.. it can't be ruled out. But the Red Sox need to make a decision re: JD Martinez soon.. fans in Boston will be angry at Dombrowski if he doesn't sign a big bat.

They have an amazing young core, a solid pitching staff, and a good back end of the bullpen.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Yup, he was a long shot signing here, I hope we stay in-house now. I still think we should bring in some sort of veteran who could make for a sufficient back up but also cheap enough to stash in Buffalo if/when Jansen or McGuire prove to be ready (which could be as soon as ST) - then you're letting those two prospects dictate their own timetable rather than having no choice but to keep one up (and call up the other in the event of an injury).
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Who would Darviah bump from the rotations in LA and NY hypothetically In the Yankees' case they could definitely use Darvish, they don't have a lot of depth. Severino is great, Tanaka and Gray are solid but both have question marks/red flags and then there's not much behind them, although of course their bullpen is ridiculous. The Dodgers really don't need Darvish, they have all kinds of pitching depth, but much like the Astros if they can improve one of their starters to one of Darvish's level and use the others as trade bait they'll do so, and they actually have the money to afford it.
