Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Jays met with CC.....not wanting any of that at all On a one year deal I'd be happy to have him as a vet #5 innings eater. He gave the Yankees some dependable innings even after his stuff declined and they have great things to say about him as a pro. Probably would be a good mentor for our younger arms.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Yeah, considering that the 5th starter is Joe Biagini, Sabathia would be a welcome addition.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Yeah, considering that the 5th starter is Joe Biagini, Sabathia would be a welcome addition. I would still rather Liriano. I really hate watching CC pitch. He kinda oozes around.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 I would still rather Liriano. I really hate watching CC pitch. He kinda oozes around. Oh, there's no chance I'd watch any CC starts. Watching that giant gut shake around is f***ing disgusting.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I dont care what anyone looks like, if you can put up 6 innings and eat 150 IP in the 5 spot I am more than happy with bringing in a short term commitment.

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Jays met with CC.....not wanting any of that at all I do! For the right price I think he'd be a fantastic #5. 2-years, $18M?

He could definitely mentor some of the kids on the finer points of alcoholism.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 f*** bringing Liriano back. Watching him throw 65% of his pitches for balls 4/5 of his starts is not something I want to see again.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 He could definitely mentor some of the kids on the finer points of alcoholism. First of all it was functioning alcoholic...secondly when he was young it wasn't alcohol it was just about fame and acting like a child (dating Serena will mess anyone up). I'd say that he was a lot like how Stro is now. He matured poorly as he hit the bottle when that life wasn't the same.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 In 2016 when the Yankees would play in Toronto Sabathia would stay at a different hotel then the rest of the team to be away from all of the partying lol.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Jays meeting with Sabbathia How many years can he expect to get?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Jays meeting with Sabbathia How many years can he expect to get? Sabathia has indicated that his preference would be to stay a Yankee. So for the Jays to sign him, I'd say it'll probably take a 2 year deal.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I don't like Blair at all but I still wish I had time to listen to all of that

So for the Jays to sign him, I'd say it'll probably take a 2 year deal. Yeah it would take something like 2/24 at least. I don't think the Yankees go two years, but Sabathia might want to stay there enough to take 1. The Angels might offer two, and I'm sure he'd prefer LA over Toronto in that case. Doesn't look very likely and his age makes him a risk, but I would be ok with signing him.

I just don't see him accepting rhat from the Jays when others will surely match it I doubt he feels like facing rhat Yankees lineup 18 times a year

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Hmmm That’s a pretty candid statement
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 That’s a pretty candid statement It is Essentially admitting that the FO knew the team probably wasn't good enough, but were unwilling to start a tear down just yet in fear of alienating the still stong fanbase that was still filling seats and generating revenue Or am I taking this the wrong way??
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Hmmm So basically admitting that we lost a season in order to not rustle the dumb casuals, great.

Teams would kill to have Toronto's fan base. Young, loud, passionate, and have the potential to sellout every game. Not to mention traveling to other parks and being louder than the opposing team's fans. In a sport that needs young eyeballs, the Jays are a pretty enviable situation. Killing that off after two straight ALCS appearances would have been pretty difficult to do. Thankfully we have a front office that understood that but also understood that they couldn't afford to sell off any more prospects, so they have tried to blend competing and rebuilding at the same time. I guess more of the same expected in 2018.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 So basically admitting that we lost a season in order to not rustle the dumb casuals, great. It's not like they missed out on selling anything with their fake competitive season. I'm getting pretty scared that ownership will prevent them from extracting value from JD though.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Basically Shatkins wants to start from scratch snd byild a young core from there, but ownership is pressing them to milk anything out of this aging and shriveling core I too, would like a slow death.

The casual all hate this management so that didn't even work. All the season did was keep the stock booking for Rogers executives bonuses
