Maahfaace Verified Member Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I have said before I think Estrada will be back next season. Shapiro wants nothing to do with the free agent market and Estrada is practically endorsing that he wants to come back. Unless they get an actual good package for him, I think he will stay regardless of how the team is doing. He's not going to be Jay Bruce'd. I could see the Jays offering 1 year 13-15 million plus a team option for a little more. And judging by how much Estrada loves Toronto, I could see him taking it over a 2 or 3 year guaranteed deal.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Kind of weird to read Osuna walked 2 batters in one inning. But he also struck out 3 so that's good. I would like to see him go back to trying to just miss bats. Tired of bleeders sneaking through the infield on his cutter.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Gibbons named Rowley as Saturday's starting pitcher... Yay! Rowley, a West Point graduate who was out of professional baseball in 2014 and '15 to serve in the United States military, holds a 2.29 ERA over 106 1/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season. Saturday will be his MLB debut.

Why would they get rid of him?

Ideally we could trade him for a decent return and then sign him back in the off season. More than happy to just keep him and sign him though.

More than happy to just keep him and sign him though. If Estrada was pitching like this directly leading up to the trade deadline, then I think that would have been more likely. Now with the waiver process and two weeks already gone post trade deadline, teams might be less likely to give up enough value to make a deal worth while for the Jays. If I had to pin point a team that would be desperate enough to make a deal it would be Seattle (longest playoff drought), but not sure what they have left or what they'd give up. I'd love if the Jays got something good for Marco and then brought him back three months from now, but it's looking more likely that keeping him and re-signing him is the more likely scenario.
