Liriano or Biagini?

Looks like Sanchez is starting to throw again. If he comes back before anyone else is hurt that would likely lock in Sanchez, Stroman, Estrada and Happ.

 

That would leave Liriano or Biagini for the 5th spot. Who would you want to stay in the rotation, Liriano or Biagini? This is not what you think will happen but rather who would you personally prefer.

I'd leave Liriano in the rotation. Biagini might be the better pitcher but he's been in the bullpen before and they can manage his workload better there anyway. Team needs another good arm in the pen too so he would fill the need.

Liriano. There's a 3-4-win starter in there if he settles in, and I give him every chance to hit his stride, especially given that he's trade bait if the team falls out of contention. Also, it keeps Biagini's workload down in case he's needed in the rotation later on this year.

Liriano. Even if they are both equal in value as starters (Which I don't think are), Biagini is a rock in the BP. He's much better suited for multi-inning work over Barnes and get rid of Grilli all together pls.

He's 27, not 21. The time to use him is now. Plus the two years before he came to Toronto he was around 130 IP. This is not new territory for him.

 

I'm undecided but leaning Biagini because I think the Jays could really use Liriano out of the pen. Howell< Grilli.

What's the difference between June /early July and end of July. Use a 6 man rotation until it becomes clear that trading him is the way to go and in the meantime be looking for said trade imo. If another starter gets hurt there is still options in the minors

Contention, man. We're in contention, teams go out and add guys like Liriano at the deadline. Teams are always bouncing names around all year, these moves get done in 6 weeks from now, unless you're suggesting a 6 man rotation up until the deadline?

Yes the deadline or until we are completely out of it before the deadline. Sanchez probably won't be back until late June/July assuming they continue to take it slow

I see, it's not like they haven't done that before, Sanchez will be going out on a 2 start rehab assignment in a few days if his finger responds to 90 feet tosses the next few days.

Keep Liriano in the rotation to keep his value up for trade purposes. Biagini in the pen also helps in managing his innings.

If we're doing this 6 man rotation ******** again the expectation better be that each starter goes 7+ innings and the team has a shorter BP. I can't stand looking at the bench where there are only three options and two of them are Goins and Maile.

 

I'd rather have Sanchez come out of the BP for a bit if people are insistent that both Biagini and Liriano start.

In a hypothetical must win, one game scenario I'd rather see Biagini start, however as of right now it's best for the team to have Liriano in the rotation.

Liriano. Biagini's workload needs to be managed, plus his versatility, ability to be an effective spot starter or pitch multiple innings out of the pen has more value than the value difference between Liriano and Biagini as starters.
