Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 High strikeout guy. But he walks a lot and is an extreme flyball pitcher.
Gary Verified Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Is this any indication about the news on Stroman?? Or unrelated?
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Super. Ramirez has never really had a fair shake. I think it's pretty likely that he's an improvement over some of Toronto's current relievers.

Front office's m.o. seems to be if you're getting Ks you're probably doing something right. Can't really argue with the results either, Grilli, Benoit and Liriano all started showing improved results practically the moment the Jays took a flyer on them.

He's only 27 as well. I like the move, he easily belongs in the big leagues even if it's in more of a low leverage role.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 It's hard to believe a guy could miss that many bats and give up that much contact. Hes either really good or really s***. Not a bad guy to take a chance on though.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 It's hard to believe a guy could miss that many at-bats and give up that much contact. Hes either really good or really s***. Not a bad guy to take a chance on though. They have such a good track record with these kind of guys that I would assume they see something in him that says he can be effective.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 any options left? Not according to Roster Resource (those guys are fast, already have him listed on the Jays depth chart) http://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-toronto-blue-jays/
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Interesting. He has good stuff. Definitely better than Tepera.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Kind of making up for letting Jeremy Jeffress slip through the cracks.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Nothing wrong in taking a chance on a first round pick
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Had him in the LoD, he was huge for K/BB but killing me everywhere else !

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Can he hit? He sure can! He would just be awful.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Had a solid rookie year with the Cubs. Even believe back in 2014 there were discussions about him possibly being their closer of the future.
Gary Verified Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 This could be a real solid signing. Jays pitching coaches have a way of getting the most out of their guys.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 I see what you did there. Well when you're already losing by 4-5 runs it's pretty low leverage And there's been lots of THAT
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 I like this signing though So who gets the boot??
