When there is a play at a bag, like a runner trying to steal and if the throw is a short hop, the fielder should keep his glove parallel to the ground and take the short hop without having to come up on the ball. Dosen't almost every middle infielder receive a short hop that way on stolen base attempts?

 

Yes, unless it doesn't stay down, which it didn't. Anyhow...

Personally, we can not hit like we did back then and do not even have close to as good of a lineup to hit like that...so to win games you have to play small ball more, especially when we are the slowest team in baseball and can't hit HRs

Playing smallball is one of the things to do when your team is badly struggling or you need one run very badly.

And I enjoy watching small ball!! I acknowledge it is not superior to "hitting home runs" but I like watching small ball. I like players run around the bases aggressively, take chances, and outsmart the opposing team.

Of course we can't play traditional small ball due to team speed...but we can't play the 2015 style either. We have to play a combination of the 2.
