It's been a relatively slow off season, excluding of course a pick up and here and there including Boston's addition of Sale, but that's a Jays fan talking. All in all it was a surprising off season with pitching demanding the most attention and the most dollars. In particular, relief pitching was the star of the show. Teams, agents and players were blindsided by the flip in demand and were left scrambling and making, at times, hasty decisions. For example, the jays picked up Morales in a rush deal thinking that Edwin would accept an offer to hard to refuse by a deep-pocketed team, and at the end of the day, we all know how that turned out, but again that's a Jays fan talking.

But, that was the past and this is the present. It's that time of year when the air is filled with the smell of fresh cut grass and buttery popcorn. The endless chatter of who will be crowned MVP? Who's in line for Tommy John surgery? Which team will suffer the sophomore jinx and for those who are overly optimistic and borderline cocky, you will be the ones lining up to place bets on World Series contenders.

I for one am excited for the new season to begin. I have exhausted all of 2016's highlights, soundbites and clips to fill the void, a void that seems to last longer every winter. But the winter is coming to an end, so baseball fans feel free to open your storm shutters and let the spring air in.

What's left to say but.....

Just a bit of a tangent, but I f***ing hate the smell of fresh cut grass. It smells like cake, which I also hate.

Is there a specific kind of cake that grinds your gears more than others?

If only grass smelled half as good as cake.
