King Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 The Phillies drafted Mickey Moniak at 1-1 last summer. If every team mutually agreed to intentionally walk Moniak every time he stepped up to the plate, he would never get a chance to develop and the Phillies would be out of a prospect. Every team would then start intentionally walking other teams players, to a point where pitchers are intentionally walking so many batters that they would never actually pitch. It would alter the baseball universe so far that I would begin to question if the game even exists. I think if this happened MLB/MiLB would institute intentional walk rules where a player could only be intentionally walked 1 time per game. This or teams would refuse to play minor league games and just hold intrasquad games to develop their own players. But the real question is. How many times would Mickey Moniak have to be intentionally walked in order for baseball to institute an intentional walk rule?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 What did I just read? Is this a reddit post?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Moniak would have to be intentionally walked at least more times than the number of shitposts on this forum. So it would probably take a few years for your entire scenario to play out.
