Is there such a thing as a good head first slide?

The ones where you're safe.

what is it, concussion #3 in less than 2 years?

2 in less than a year. The slide/play looked like your everyday gameplay, though. Hopefully it isn't the same lingering issue of the brain.

Retirement is next, I was watching "the hurt business" documentary. One of the doctors in the doc said people who suffer concussions close in proximity should do all to get away from the activity causing it. Long term health is paramount for someone as young as Pompey

Heh, try telling that to a 24 year old.

I know, no way he gives up. Give up on speed and focus on making smart moves is about the best advice you can give him

Is it reasonable to attribute his recent issues with focus (defensive miscues) to a damaged brain?

Forgetfulness is a symptom of brain related injuries (i.e concussions)

Steal off the pitcher slide feet first, he has it in him, pick your spots.

Yeah, I've had many... they stick around while you're still concussed.

My mom suffered a concussion in December 2015, still dealing with lingering issues from it and that was the only one she's ever had.

Jordan Cameron just retired at 28 after 4 reported concussions in 6 seasons. He's the exception not the rule. Most athletes experience multiple concussions and micro concussions but refuse to quit. Mostly because of financial responsibilities

Cameron's also made a lot more money than Pompey.

Lots of talk online and on mlb network about Sanchez not getting a little better than league minimum

He lost money getting optioned last year

Boras is complaining publicly of course

Weren't the Jays going to add the money Sanchez lost with the demotion to his 2017 salary? I thought I read that at the time.

Unless it was done with the specific intent of suppressing his salary why is this relevant? Teams shouldn't be apologizing for using options when they are available to them. That's just roster management.
