P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 this board sucks It's brutal.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The year of 3 outcomes. Aaron Judge must be the all-time King. 205 SO 51 HR 125 BB 11 IBB 5 HBP That's like 60% of his PA ending in TTO result
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Not entirely true. If the Yanks win out and the Sox lose out the remaining three games, they'd have to do a one-gamer to decide the division! Not likely, but would be hilarious. Shame the Yanks would have to do it against the Jays though since I still want to see the O's faceplant themselves into the cellar by the end of Sunday. f*** the Yankees, man. These were supposed to be the lean years while all the bad contracts played themselves out and before their prospects developed and the free agent bumper crop and they are STILL making the playoffs. I hope the Jays sweep them and I hope Minny wins in the biggest playoff drubbing we have or ever well see. Something like 28-0.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I know that's supposed to be some kind of insult, but I picture that even these guys could easily take BTS on one-on-one in a fight. You gotta bring up someone like Urkel (13 year old Urkel at the start of Family Matters, not Jaleel White today) or Peter Dinklage for him to have a chance.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Cool i didn't know Boxy names his boy band after BTS.

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Do you guys remember when it took less than 15 seconds to load a page, had moderators that actually post, and didn’t leave Russian spam bot threads littering the forum for days at a time? I remember

Laika Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Board is just dead. It's pretty sad Thanks to those who are keeping it active The board is better when it's dead quiet. It sucks because of the technical issues and neglect.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 The board is better when it's dead quiet. That is so, so wrong. IMO the whole point of this board is to have interesting debates, and if hardly anyone is posting, debates don't happen as often. I know that the trolls that post are annoying, but just ignore them. Most regulars are posting less (in some cases much less) and that's a shame.

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 The problem with the forum is it's not a welcoming place to differing opinions or people who aren't as knowledgeable in analytics as most. You guys operate as a clique generally and pile on others.

You guys operate as a clique generally and pile on others. I don’t think that’s really true. The biggest problem with the forum, at least as far as traffic is concerned, is that the team blows. It’s been that way for the 15+ years I’ve been posting: if the team sucks, people don’t post. Secondary issues are the constant spam and general bugginess creating a terrible posting experience, and that doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon.

I tried bringing 4 people from HF over to here and they all complained about the lack of proper moderation and how cliquey it is.

You guys operate as a clique generally and pile on others. It's all a question of self awareness. This is a great place to learn about analytics, if you come here with an open mind. The folks who struggle to fit in are the ones who come with faulty opinions and are hard headed enough to argue even when proven to be wrong statistically.

Well, HF is an over-moderated safe space cesspool, so if they like it there they probably won’t like it here.

Some people don't know the inside and outside it though and the typical response is condescending and making fun of them for being stupid.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 The impressive thing as well is that Stanton's done it in about 100+ less games than the rest of those guys, while playing the majority in very pitcher friendly Marlins parks.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Some people don't know the inside and outside it though and the typical response is condescending and making fun of them for being stupid. As other people have said, it depends how people come on here. If you come in saying that Goins is one of the best players on the team because of the RBIs, and should be an everyday player, then call people stupid if they don't agree with you, you'll be destroyed. If you come in and ask WHY we think that way, you'll find plenty of people who are willing to help you understand. As far as cliques go, you'll find a lot of disagreements that we have with each other too. For the most part though, we support our arguments, which provides proper discussion as well as learning opportunities for all involved.

Dickey — who physically lacks a UCL in his right elbow — has been stricken from all the data, and did not influence the construction of the model.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Welp, as a reward for clinching the AL East today, the Red Sox get to play the Astros in the ALDS.
