Holy s***, I missed the part where Julio Urias had shoulder surgery and could be out for 14 months. Yikes, shoulder injuries are the f***ing worst.

Miguel Montero confirms that he's the whiniest player in the bigs

Here's what he said exactly:

Him or Stephen Vogt would be great. It probably makes too much sense to actually happen though.

Well it would have made sense a month ago but does it even matter now? I mean I guess since Maille has options and Montero won't cost much, there's no downside but big piccture, what the team really needs is to inject some youth.

Miguel Montero for back up catcher please.

I'd rather they take a flyer on Norris, even with the accusations with his ex

Montero and his 112 wRC+ would be tied with Martin for 3rd best on the Jays right now. I think we could use him.

My point was that I don't think the Jays are getting back in contention not that Montero can't hit but like I said earlier there's no downside to the move even if it's just shuffling deck chairs.

Sportsnet ticker just said we have significant interest in him.

I hear you, but Shatkins has been trying to upgrade our backup catcher all year long. I expect that to continue - regardless of age and our record.

As per Jon Heyman, so take it for what it's worth.

I wasn't paying close enough attention to see who the source was. Just had it on in the background and happened to glance over. It makes some sense though.

lol Morosi on the Fan590 today said he didn't think JD would be get more than 3/75 in Free Agency in 2019 because of his age. I just about crashed my car on the highway listening to it.

That's a pretty asinine statement. Guy is the second best position player behind Mike Trout by WAR since he broke out.

That being said, I can see teams not willing to go high on years because of his age but rather substituting that with higher AAV. I'm gonna assume he'll get 5 years and around $30 million. Don't think he cracks $200 million.

Agree. If he's a 4-5 win player by then he should get $150. His injuries are starting to pile up though.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi told Meredith Marakovits that the team is concerned that Greg Bird (ankle, knee) may not be able to return this season.

Advice: Bird continues to feel soreness in his foot and ankle. He also fouled a ball off his right knee during a minor league rehab assignment earlier this month, as if the first baseman needed another issue. Bird has played in just 19 games this season. Chris Carter, who was outrighted to Triple-A, might see a call up soon, particularly given that recently called up first baseman Tyler Austin is dealing with hamstring bruising which could land him on the disabled list.
