If you want to assign blame for backloading Martin's contract blame Rogers not AA. Rogers had a strict budget so they had to pay him that much in year 1 in order to sign him.

Total bummer. I'm optimistic about Moraeles and his chances in these band-box parks but I'm really failing to understand all of the excitement over Steve Pearce? I mean, there's room for hope there and he'll add some pop off of the bench but he's hardly ever gonna be the kind of impact player that EE is.

I think 2017's gonna be a step back for the boys unless Shapiro adds a couple other major pieces.

 

I'm not sold on Pillar (fine as a defensive only player but it puts pressure on the rest of the offense to be stronger) and who else is supposed to fill out the outfield? Upton? Seriously?

I'm glad we have a front office that isn't in the business of paying old players market value. Stupid way to operate for a non Yankees/Dodgers/Red Sox Sox team. You guys are loving the fact we aren't Price 30 mill a year to get worse
