xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 His agent should be fired immediately He'll end up with the same 4/80 year deal. It's the Blue Jays who look stupid, they have Morales now instead of EE.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 His agent should be fired immediately Sounds like he has a 3/65 guarantee (5M buyout on the 4th year). Not far off from 4/80
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Sounds like he has a 3/65 guarantee. Not far off from 4/80. At 36, it's not like he won't be able to get 12-15m, + the 5m buyout, so it will be basically the same.

They made the offer, he rejected the offer. How does that make them stupid. They signed a player that accepted to be signed.. On this subject, i have no criticism of our management.

He might actually come out ahead. Overall, he really didn't get seriously burned by declining the reported 4/80 offer. Do we know for sure that that offer didn't include a team option?

Caper Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Teams must be getting tired of getting killed on these bug deals. Pujols, Fielder, Hamilton and so many others. They are just getting killed on them. I think teams are starting to smarten up.

They signed a player that accepted to be signed.. On this subject, i have no criticism of our management. His agent basically said that he was waiting, so the Blue Jays could have kept their offer. He made it seem like the blue jays withdrew their offer and moved on before waiting for EE to make his decision. So, ya, the Blue Jays end up with an 11m 0.9 war player vs 20m 3.5 war player. Their little game of trying to pressure EE into making his decision right away backfired.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Fire Shatkins Pathetic
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Wow, Paul Kinsler is most unprofessional agent out there. All he did was talk s*** to the media and ends up getting his client a slightly less deal for a team that probably was his 3rd or 4th choice.
crmr Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 At least one management team knows how to spend when they're competitive pathetic really, looks like Cleveland got rid of the right people
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 There it is. 3/65 guarantee.
Caper Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 This is a pretty huge deal for a 34-year old 1B/DH. Yes it is. But I think he was thinking there might be a 100 million deal out there. Teams were a little more disciplined.

And if Morales would have signed a couple days later, then what? f*** Edwin, he could have just agreed to the Jays 4/80 offer.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 This thread is already starting out like the tire fire, I assumed.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 This thread is already starting out like the tire fire, I assumed. I want to go back in hiding for the offseason
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 And if Morales would have signed a couple days later, then what? f*** Edwin, he could have just agreed to the Jays 4/80 offer. Do you blame him for wanting to test the market? This is most likely his last chance to see what's out there. Ya it didn't develop but that's because Dodgers/Yanks/Red Sox/Cubs are all basically not wanting a mid 30s player and made other moves. But it's not like we HAD to sign morales. I would have rather waited on EE's decision. Morales strictly a dh didn't have 10 teams knocking down wanting to pay him 10m+ a year.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Yes it is. But I think he was thinking there might be a 100 million deal out there. Teams were a little more disciplined. Kinzer wanted 5/125.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Surprised the Red Sox didn't beat this offer.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I'm not even mad at the front office. Edwin was greedy and the Jays didn't wait around, good for them and sorry but f*** Edwin and his agent. Enjoy living in Cleveland where the f***ing lake catches fire.
baubau Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Fire shartkins So king, who do you like for the Jays newly acquired 25th pick? I am pulling for Seth Romero.. bring back that Romero name! /#scout E: s***, wait no. We get a comp pick. Dammit!
