THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 As much as it's hard to believe Shapiro loves "culture" and he is trying hard to create something in Toronto that fits his beliefs. They obviously believe that Gibbons fits in with the culture they are building. You can say one thing about Gibbons he doesn't say negative things very often. I would also add that Gibby seems very moldable and willing to embrace the stats from above. He's not a stubborn old POS like Mike Scioscia.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 True. But we all know if he had someone fast who could steal bases, that is who we would put first. Travis-43 Bautista-40 Carrera-36 Pillar-20 Saunders-18 Barney-5 I think that's a bit of a misconception about Gibby. If true, he would have stuck with Pillar, or moved Upton there when acquired.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 People still think Maddon is a smart manager after his managing of the World Series last year? He almost single-handedly lost his team game 7 by over managing.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 1 game is surely more representative of a skillet than a 10 year career To be fair he was terrible in that entire series. Also no matter who the manager is fans will complain just by virtue of how many decisions they have to make.

We're talking about people like Mitchell Licthman who are the foremost experts on win expectancy just tearing into Maddon.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 God those uniforms were pitiful. The road ones weren't terrible. Logo, home, and alternatives were so ugly.

baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Letting Bautista hit first and JD second for the majority of the year is a pretty unconventional thing when you consider that guys like Erick Aybar and Jose Iglesias (not to mention our second favourite manager who hits Alcides Escobar first) got to hit at the top of the lineup this season. That wasn't even him who came up with that. It was the players.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 old news but belongs here haha http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-notebook-atkins-endorses-gibbons-elite-manager/

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Shatkins will probably try to hire Gibby for minimum wage
