I think players in that league max out at like... 5-6 million /yr

They seem to only pay really long time veterans too. I think Dice K and Kuroda were at the top. Goes with Japanese respecting their elders culture I suppose.

They could be talking about flinging poo at one another and it would be more relevant and insightful than 95% of your posts.

Hey Boxy anytime you wanna come to town, I'll shut that mouth up for Ya!

And what relevant or insight do you offer this board numb nuts?

Are you going to wear your helmet to this meeting? Kind of an unfair advantage, I'd request you take it off for just a few minutes.

Whatever team gets him better let him hit. I still think the posting system is total ********. But it will be fun having him in the League

You're aware I'm just ribbing you, right?

Seems like they could make him a SP/OF or whatever and have only his pitching stats count if he's slotted in your SP and hitting if he's in the OF. I dunno how overpowered that would make him, though. I guess we can all hope that he sucks at hitting to make this point moot.

I don't understand why anyone would want him to fail. I'd love to see more players (or strategies) come into the MLB that change the way we think about the game. What if Otani has the bat of Mike Trout and is also an ace pitcher like Kershaw? Or if Christian Bethancourt successfully transitioned to RP/C/OF/SS full time. Pat Venditte sucks but the whole switch pitcher thing was pretty cool. What if Aroldis Chapman could throw 103 with both arms?

Good retort. Really punched me right in the kisser.

Yeah bro just like this absolute zinger in the LoD thread

It's hilarious how badly you want back in this league, but still won't admit it.

It's a shame Bozy needs someone to hold his hand through his own internet battles.

90% probability that he simply ends up in the NL where he can hit every fifth day and if he's good enough maybe pinch hit a bit.

I'd go the exact opposite. He's more likely to go AL, where he can DH four days in between pitching.

I wonder if they could just give him 3 innings each game, every 5 days. Start the game with a solid pen arm. Go two innings. Then let this dude do his solid 3. Or just have a pitching DH, that's not that much extra.

batting practice, side pitching sessions plus game play (and pitching way more often than he has in his career). If injury didn't get him, fatigue would. Even 2 days a week DH'ing involves him taking part in limited batting practice. which was the deal in Japan, he only took BP twice a week. Not to mention that you are exposing your $200M asset to opposing pitchers fastballs more often.

I think if a team concludes there is more value from him on the mound at the MLB level they will protect his arm and not let him hit every day. Regardless, it's a good problem to have no matter what team lands him.

He can refuse to a sign a contract with a team that wins the bid if they don't allow him to hit.

If I were him, Id go to an AL team and pitch every 5 days + DH 2 days at the beginning to see how it goes.

He will never be a productive hitter in the NL where he will get 3 ABs every 5 days

Teams don't win the bid anymore with the 20 mil cap. There were numerous teams that bid 20 mil for tanaka so he was able to negotiate with multiple teams and get 155 from the Yankees.

Which is better for the player.

And Schwarber said he wants to catch.

And he'd be catching if he hadn't injured himself, I don't see the relevance?
