Evolution Day is a celebration to commemorate the anniversary of the initial publication of On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin on 24 November 1859.

 

I figured that irrelevant holiday threads belonged in the off-topic section, but apparently not. Happy Evolution Day to all of our scientifically literate members!

While we were at it did anybody ever call Grant out on his bet that he made on the Indians?? It was in the context of the "playoffs are a crapshoot" arguments and Grant was counting an $800 dollar pay off when Indians were up 3-1.

 

I am guessing he said something like this.

 

"I said the playoffs were a crapshoot, and this series proved my point. It was a complete coin flip and there was essentially no difference between the two teams, even though the cubs won more games in the regular season."

I think anyone would be happy with a big payout looking likely. That's why baseball is so much fun though. I don't regret making an intelligent bet over an emotional one.

 

It's so hilarious that olerud still has his panties in a knot over an irrefutable statistic though. The hours that this guy has dedicated exclusively to trolling me over the years is mind boggling.
