JB and EE were not weak links. Sign both back, put EE at first, KM at DH and JB in right. Trade Upton and Smoak for a full time LH LF.

Just the same Edwin could say ya know I don't really need any more than $80 million dollars but that's not how this works. Just because a player (more likely agent) wants max dollars doesn't mean a team that can afford it should pay it. Jays gave their best offer they were willing to go to which is very fair for a DH bat, it's a take it or leave type of deal and you can't knock them for it.

My expectations for his bat aren't riding on his 2016 season. I'd think he's closer to his 2000+ PA's pre-2016.

 

But I still find his defense to be very important to a team like we're running out.

I was at first annoyed by this but I'd take S.Rod honestly. 112 wRC+ career against lefties and passable D at 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and RF while being poor at SS and CF. If S.Rod replaces Goins on the 25 man roster that's addition by subtraction itself. The idea of being able to platoon Rodriguez and Smoak and then move Rodriguez somewhere like LF/RF to cover D late in the game isn't a super unappealing option.

 

It would depend on cost and term but 2/10 I'd say it's an ok move.

Only if we miss on multiple targets, in FA. I can't pretend to know what they're doing in floor work in regards to trades going into the winter meetings, but, he's a piece you go after in January.

 

A signing of Cespedes or EE, would/should bring you to guys like S-Rod, even then, it's a better shot with Pearce, he won't be that expensive in concerns of previous playing time, etc, same goes for Sean.

The team isn't signing JB and EE for that reason. Also, this team is now stuck with RM unless they eat a lot of money trying to trade him.
