Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 He deserves 4/90 and they could afford more. Yes it is a business, and when you have a good thing going, you keep it. Team didn't need a rehaul, it needed weak links to be addressed. JB and EE were not weak links. Sign both back, put EE at first, KM at DH and JB in right. Trade Upton and Smoak for a full time LH LF. So you give EE 22.5/yr. how much would sign Bautista for? And Corner OF defence was a weak link with Saunders and Bautista

Driveof85 Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 lol fair enough, but the number still stands
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 3/50 So that means in 2019 the Jays will have a: 36 year old catcher making 20 million a year 35 year old shortstop making 20 million a year 37 year old first baseman making 22.5 million a year 39 year old RF making 16.7 a year One could argue that by 2019 at least 3 of the 4 should be DHing And your franchise player is set to become a free agent Do you see how f***ing stupid that is
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 3/50 Thank God you're not our GM. Don't live in the past. Cards left Albert f***ing Pujols go and kept winning
Governator Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 lol fair enough, but the number still stands Just the same Edwin could say ya know I don't really need any more than $80 million dollars but that's not how this works. Just because a player (more likely agent) wants max dollars doesn't mean a team that can afford it should pay it. Jays gave their best offer they were willing to go to which is very fair for a DH bat, it's a take it or leave type of deal and you can't knock them for it.

Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I'm fairly sure he doesn't. Probably not. It just irks the s*** out of me when people go on "give them what he wants". He probably doesn't realize that EE wouldn't have taken 4/90 either. He has his sights set on 100 million
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I hate when casuals come on here and start yelling their nonsense.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 My expectations for his bat aren't riding on his 2016 season. I'd think he's closer to his 2000+ PA's pre-2016. But I still find his defense to be very important to a team like we're running out. Where have you been?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Where have you been? Busy, lad.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I was at first annoyed by this but I'd take S.Rod honestly. 112 wRC+ career against lefties and passable D at 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and RF while being poor at SS and CF. If S.Rod replaces Goins on the 25 man roster that's addition by subtraction itself. The idea of being able to platoon Rodriguez and Smoak and then move Rodriguez somewhere like LF/RF to cover D late in the game isn't a super unappealing option. It would depend on cost and term but 2/10 I'd say it's an ok move.
rydermike Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 26th man Well with the news of the new CBA increasing roster sizes S-Rod: Sign me Shapiro: Sorry Sean you'd be our 26th man, they're no room S-Rod: Aww MLB and MLBPA: We have a new CBA, now we have 26 men rosters S-Rod: Hey Mark, there's space now Shapiro: Uhhh
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Hasn't this guy killed us over the years? Might be worth signing him just to avoid facing him.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I'm happy with him as a bench player who fills in often to give guys a day off here and there all over the diamond.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 That's what Pearce is for. We can have em both and get rid of Smoak Zeke Barney Goins mushroom and Upton plus there's gotta be one trade for bullpen help in there somewhere or a PTBNL !!! Lol

He is worth 4/90 and I never indicated to pay him more.

I can't pretend to know what they're doing in floor work in regards to trades going into the winter meetings, but, he's a piece you go after in January. A signing of Cespedes or EE, would/should bring you to guys like S-Rod, even then, it's a better shot with Pearce, he won't be that expensive in concerns of previous playing time, etc, same goes for Sean.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 lol... cause you weren't there? The Drive of 85... I was 12 years old when George Bell caught that ball(was in the bleachers), now I know every meathead since, thinks that's why Labatt's(great owners) spent money every year... leading up to our WS wins. You missed the drive man, U suck, and money is nothing. *Said every ol skool fan since 93* It crumbled after the strike and Labatt's got out(interbrew)... at least Rogers got us back here! It could've been really ugly.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 How come you no reply to other post? You know I'm s***ing you right, guys like him think money doesn't matter. Labatt's made a killing and stepped out at the right time. They made killer money from the Birds. These guys don't grip that Rogers is a business with shareholders. It's sooooo different now. LOL... funny thing is Labatt's is making killer money again in selling the Birds, Bud and Bud Light as their major seller.

He said give EE 4/90, and chances are he turns that down as well. It's just s***** timing that two of our best bats are FA in a pretty bad FA class. They are probably going to get overvalued and that's something this FO doesn't do, thankfully

Also, this team is now stuck with RM unless they eat a lot of money trying to trade him.
