Sign Ian Desmond? opinions?

Why not take a run at Desmond. What I like is he is a guy capable of 30 Hrs, 30 SBs and .300 Average. He is acceptable defensively. Right handed doesn't make us stronger from the left side though.

No thanks on Desmond, I don't prefer him enough to some of the other options who don't require compensation. Fowler is the only OF for whom I'd consider giving up our pick.

I love his versatility an ability to provide 3-WAR play at SS and 2B should Tulo or Travis get hurt.

 

The problem is that his main position would be LF and he doesn't have the greatest bat there. He also costs a draft pick.

I actually like Desmond, but I think there will be a good market for him. The dollar figure combined with losing the pick probably doesn't make sense.

He won't cost a 1st rd pick, he's a better hitter, he's 2 years younger, and he has a safer skillset. Presumably, he'll also be cheaper than Desmond.

Find a good left handed bat to platoon with him and i don't think there is any doubt that he will put up a .800 OPS against left handed pitching. That is more or less what i want to see from Reddick

I really don't want Upton anywhere near my Jays team,not a fan of platoons for outfielders at all .

I don't think the Jays will take a run at anyone with a QO attached, This FO is set on building the farm as well. So I don't think they give those picks up.

I would consider it on a team friendly deal to play LF. I think he'll be able to convince a team in to giving him more than what I'm willing to pay though.
