BTS Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Steamers 2017 projection for Edwin; 125 wRC+ 2.3 fWAR. Yikes. That's not a good projection given his expected contract.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Yikes. That's not a good projection given his expected contract. Matt Holliday 2017 Steamers projection. 121 wRC+ 1.8 fWAR. I think you were onto something.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Yikes. That's not a good projection given his expected contract. Edwin has outperformed Steamer projections each of the last 5 years, so I'm not sure any team signing him should be all that worried about those projections.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 am i the only one on the board that would roll the dice and try and acquire Puig.

When is the last time he projected for a wRC+ of 125? Pretty sure Steamer is picking up on the signs of decline he showed this year.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 What do you think our chances are for landing one of the big name closers? If possible, my top choice is Jansen, then Holland. I don't really care for Melanson.

It's probably too early to read much into them.

Like, maybe if they tweaked their system i guess.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 U read work of these steamer projections they are not good for the Jays. Do they do any variance analysis with actual to projected
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 So if we re-sign EE do we lose our first rounder and get a sandwich pick?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 So if we re-sign EE do we lose our first rounder and get a sandwich pick? Nope. We keep our pick and don't get anything.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 am i the only one on the board that would roll the dice and try and acquire Puig. No. He would be a great target however the Dodgers continue to ask for way to much considering how much they flushed his value in the toilet. They are probably going to have to either play him and accept his personality or suck it up and take a loss in a trade scenario.
metafour Verified Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 So if we re-sign EE do we lose our first rounder and get a sandwich pick? Why would we lose our pick for re-signing our own free agent player.....?
Iggy Verified Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Here is a good article explaining the QO system, including the compensation rules http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/list-of-players-set-to-receive-qualifying-offers.html
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Thor and Sanchez were compensation picks
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Why would we lose our pick for re-signing our own free agent player.....? We aren't allowed to have nice things
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Why would we lose our pick for re-signing our own free agent player.....? We do not lose our first rounder for resigning our own players. Only if we sign a QO'd player from another team we'd lose a pick.
ILikeSoccerandBaseball09 Verified Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 So who should we get for RF and LF?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 So who should we get for RF and LF? Reddick/Fowler and Pearce. If applicable.
Ray Verified Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Any interest in Matt Holliday as our primary 1B? He can come cheap and without a long commitment.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Any interest in Matt Holliday as our primary 1B? He can come cheap and without a long commitment. Yes, mentioned plenty times. He'd be ideal. Our FO's focus likely moves to the OF at the moment.

Ideally would love Fowler over Reddick for the outfield, but I don't see this FO giving up a pick to get him. The thing with Reddick is he'll more than likely need to be platooned. If that's the case, that's an expensive platoon piece. All that being said, Morales + Reddick + 2 compensatory picks + Holliday would be a more than successful offseason.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I wouldn't hate a 38 year old Chase Utley on this roster...I want that guy at my side.
skirbs11 Verified Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 What would be a reasonable price you guys would be willing to pay in a trade to acquire Puig?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 The more I think about the more I'd like to see them Saunders. Apparently he was banged up the 2nd half of the season so I think the major drop off in performance was injury related. LH bat that can be a 110-125 wRC+ and should cost less than 25 Million. If he can play some 1B/LF and DH he compliments the current team well.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
