One thing to add to the discussion here but I do not care if we sign another lefty or not. Loup can be the lefty for now I just want best available regardless of which arm they throw with.

Well its certainly a factor (at least their splits vs LHH) but I'd agree in saying they need more than a LOOGY. Girado and Dermondy could probably fill that role if Loup goes down.

I'd still prioritize LF over the pen.

Not to me. Maybe if you had two similarly talented guys willing to sign for similar money I'd take the lefty but all things considered I simply want the best valued guys we can get.

LF is an issue I agree but I don't think we have enough money to significantly upgrade this position. Moss is the one clear upgrade to me on the FA market and he's due for 8 mil or so you would think.

Agreed. For me right now the best options are Smith, Romo, Blanton, or Holland. I'd easily take any of them over the best lefty.

Yeah I'd love to snag one of those guys. Can always get a lefty at the deadline if we need one but I don't even think Loup is THAT bad to start with.

Didn't Blanton retire?

EDIT: Yes he did.

Blevins isn't a LOOGY, he's a good reliever who could also happen to be our best option vs lefties.

isn't he a s***** defensive C who married his teacher?

Oh yes

Some HR power otherwise he's crap

He really sucks. If true they must be a) not very confident in Jimenez at all and B) be offering him a rock bottom salary.

At least he has MLB experience

Would sign for like 1.5M

Yeah it has to be an amount that doesn't get in the way of other things otherwise what's the point.

Other than being a former closer, I don't really see what makes Holland a more enticing reclamation project than Hochevar.

Talent?

Holland was a truly elite reliever, like Kenley Jansen, right up until his arm broke. A potential 85 million dollar man before the injury.

Hochevar had good K/BB numbers the last two years but he got a bit rocked in the zone. He was better in 2013 but not close to elite.

Yuck, Salty might actually be worse than Kurt Suzuki. Maybe. Probably just as bad.

Hochevar seems like the wiser investment right now but it's so hard to tell. We really don't know much about their current physical state. Recency bias tells that Holland is the bigger question mark.

Handsome Jeff Mathis, a player that BTS s*** on, went for 2/4$. I would have rather have payed that than pay 1.5 for Salty.

#BlueJays have signed SS Gregorio Petit to a minor league deal with an invite to Major League camp.

I would rather sign Hank Conger. Maybe he could find the framing skills he had not too long ago. He's also flashed decent BB and power skills at the plate, and is only 29.

It doesn't seem like there is anything else out there. Hundley is a nightmare defensively, Hanigan is 35 and probably cooked, Clevenger seems terrible... Thole, Salty, Navarro, Brayan Pena. Nothing!

Can Conger throw to 2nd base?
