When and if this comes true. Once again the blue jays are standing

and watching all this s*** go on. What a bunch of of crap with the

jays new management.

Looks as if Josh Donaldson will be the next player to leave. Because the

jays and rogers don't want to spend that money.

The Facebook Blue Jays group called, they want their village idiot back.

It was a false alarm. Debunked by EE's agent himself.

Besides, Astros ownership would likely block any deal like that--it's not certain they have the financial wherewithal to take a contract like that yet.. especially when they soon have to pay their core (Altuve's a free agent after 2019 and likely to see his salary quadruple at minimum, Springer's about to get expensive, and they need pitching..)

JD could be looking at 6/175, I don't think the FO is going to resign him anyway. As much as I hate to say it, I think trading him sooner than later might be the best thing to do.

It's not funny--Astros ownership has not allowed for a $100M payroll in many years, and I can't see them suddenly handing a huge contract to a guy like Edwin when they have many other needs (CF and both relief and starting pitching).

It has been speculated that they might load up on bats in free agency which would then allow them to trade young position players (like Springer) for pitching.

Bad idea. More likely they attempt to move Springer to CF than trade him.. don't forget, they already have spent tons on Reddick, McCann, Morton, etc... and they still have gaping holes in CF, bench and the bullpen.

Plus, those young players are about to get expensive--Altuve hits free agency in 2019, and will likely demand a new contract NOW than waiting until 2019 after his options are exercised.. he is woefully underpaid, and will likely demand a trade if Houston doesn't give him a raise after next season. He should be one of the top-paid players in the game.. and Springer's arb eligible this offseason, and could easily get an 8-figure deal when he hits 2nd year arb.. and no way they're trading Gurriel or Bregman.

I don't know why some mods locked the EE signing in Houston thread. Terrible move, change the title and let people discuss it FFS.

Anyways, although it seems to be a false rumour I don't think 5/115 is that steep. Free agent costs are clearly rising really fast, in a few years it might not even look that bad and you're bringing back a Blue Jay legend to what should be a competitive team in terms of payroll spending. I'd have no problem with it.

The problem is more how Edwin will age--and it's questionable to hand $23M/year to a DH/1B type who may not age well.. look at the Chris Davis and Ryan Howard deals!

1. Altuve can demand a trade all he wants, Astros still control his contract.

2. Springer's easily gonna smash 2nd year arb records. No biggie right?

Once again your posts are delusional.

1. Salvador Perez says hi.. he forced the Royals to redo his contract. Expect the Astros to be forced to do the same thing--$6M in 2018 and $6.5M in 2019 is likely to get the Astros in trouble with the MLB Player's Association..Altuve should be making $20M+/year NOW..

2. Actually, he's making a projected $4.7M in 2017--he'll likely more than double that in 2017 if he performs as well or better.

Can the mods just ban Todd already? Clearly a troll

Yeah. It was cute at first, but it's quickly becoming annoying. If I wanted to read posts like that I'd go to Sportsnet comments or Facebook.

Yup. And the thing is, I can't just put him on my ignore list because everyone else quotes and responds to him so I still have to read his garbage.

It wasn't even cute at all. We were all trolling (except king because he's annoying) him

If Todd is real. maybe he is English as a second language, or something. I don't know. If he is a real guy, just deal with it.

If he is not a real guy, try to get the mods to deal with it.

Todd would be an awesome facebook friend. Imagine talking politics with him on facebook

I told you Trump would be the winner

no one cared or listened

but now he is the president

and if you don't have the right papers or didn't come here properly

you will have to leave America.

There's no way anyone types the way he does by accident. He's definitely doing it on purpose, and he's been slipping lately with his over-the-top spelling mistakes.

That's a terrible deal for the Astros if true it will give them a great lineup for a couple of years but I don't think they have the pitching horses to overcome the Rangers

I thought the same thing until I went to their fangraphs page. It's a pretty solid staff. Musgrave could be a key this year.

If that Edwin contract is true would be hilarious that in 2013 they had a $24.5 million payroll for 25 players and in 2017 Edwin would make $23 million himself.
