Ray Verified Member Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 What would we realistically have to give up to get someone like Adam Eaton? Would Stroman, Urena and Greene be enough? We have Zuech, Harris and SRF to make up for Greene. And then stretch out Biagini as a starter.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I'd love to bring Lawrie back. To do what?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 They need him as a starter. Rubby De La Rosa would be a nice SP to target as a reliever. Get Ruby and Corbin. Pen would be awesome
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 To do what? Drive balls into the ground hard and injure himself trying to turn them into infield singles
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Now now let's not forget that one time Lawrie hit a game winning homerun when he first came to the majors.....lest we forget
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 That's a good sign for my progress here lol, I'm usually way under.. How about this? McCutchen for Pillar, Greene, Harris + Contract Maybe Travis + Urena + Maese/Espada and eat the contract. Sign Pearce for 2B.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Then who plays CF? Cutch can't anymore Just say no to trades... Stop the insanity now! There are enough stop gaps and free agents out thier still and we don't give up the farm!

GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Then who plays CF? Cutch can't anymore Pompey?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Then who plays CF? Cutch can't anymore Yes he can... the Pirates org admitted they played him too shallow, this season. He's too athletic not to be a good CF'er.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Pompey? He can play LF with Upton.
ILikeSoccerandBaseball09 Verified Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Joyce, Beltran, Bautista, Gomez, Cespedes, Desmond, Saunders, Rasmus, Pagan So Joyce, Pagan, Jay and Desmond. Because Saunders,Bautista and Beltran can't even play OF anymore they are so bad and I wouldn't touch Rasmus with a 20 foot pole.

Plus Jon Jay isn't very good and Ian Desmond is much better as an infielder.

He's too athletic not to be a good CF'er. That seems like something they would adjust for during the season and the comment suggests a coach should be fired.

Thames Pearce Rodriguez for the infield! Mathis or Hunley for back up catcher! Pompey up with the team! Upton and Smoak traded, maybe Zeke and cola too! For minors, pen help or PTBNL Barney not sure and Goins to the minors ? New roster should be faster, allow roster flexibility, steal 45-60 more bases next year and have some decent pop as well. None should require long term deals, or crazy amounts of money and the minors is intact! Our minors should be fully ready to supply talent to the big leagues and our Jays team soon !

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I think Shapiro would say no to Votto before Votto says no to the Jays. Great player, but seven more years at age 34? No thanks.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Apparently Wacha could be available, and probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg (just one of the two). If we were to trade Estrada for a comparable outfielder and trade for Wacha, that would be a good swap (save us some money too). Wacha has 3 arbitration years left I think.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 One presumably cheap trade target could be Preston Tucker as a platoon mate for Upton. He had a shoulder issue last year, but pretty consistent minor league numbers.

Is that all Estrada gets us? If he puts up another solid season and manages to stay healthy, you'd think we could get a pretty good haul for him at the deadline (provided we were out of it).

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Lol Yankees are not going to throw away a first round pick. That is not the direction of that franchise right now
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Appears he is horrid defensively His upside is probably average defensively (maybe a tad below), but I don't think he's likely as bad as the small sample sizes indicate. I mean there's certainly other players I'd rather, but it all depends on cost (and willingness to sign). If we spend in other areas, we have to save somewhere. Tucker is the kind of target who could come into play in that scenario.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Played some MLB the Show today and completed the first offseason in Franchise mode and simulated the two months so far of 2017. Just for fun. Some key moves that I made during the offseason: - Signed Charlie Morton to a 2 year deal. - Signed Mike Napoli to a 1 year deal. - Apparently Tex didn't retire in the game yet, so signed him to a cheap 1 year deal. - QO on EE and Bautista. Bautista did accept the QO so I'm stuck with him. EE signed a 4 year deal with the Cubs lol. - Traded JA Happ, Melvin Upton Jr and a decent prospect to the Angels for Kole Calhoun. - Signed Justin Turner to a 2 year deal. - Signed Jarrod Dyson to a 1 year deal. - traded for Boone Logan (Rockies resigned him). - signed Francisco Rodriguez to a cheap 1 year deal before ST. Here is what my roster looks like: 2B Devon Travis 3B Josh Donaldson DH Jose Bautista SS Troy Tulowitzki RF Kole Calhoun 1B Mark Teixeira/Mike Napoli platoon C Russell Martin CF Kevin Pillar LF Jarrod Dyson/Justin Turner BN Justin Turner (playing him everyday all over) BN Mike Napoli (starts at 1B against LHP) BN Jon Jay (Pompey got injured so he's my new 4th OF now) BN Carlos Ruiz Rotation: SP Aaron Sanchez SP Marcus Stroman SP Francisco Liriano SP Marco Estrada SP Charlie Morton Bullpen (Grilli retired, have Biagini in AAA since he's not rated that high): RHP Matt Shoemaker (picked him up in Rule 5 lol) RHP Juan Nicasio RHP Francisco Rodriguez LHP Aaron Loup LHP Boone Logan RHP Daniel Hudson CL Roberto Osuna
