Not sure why everyone has such a love affair for Steve Pearce. 33 year old journeyman who had one good 60% of a season in his life. If you want him for a versatile bench piece, fine. If you'd rather have him than Smoak, fine. But the way people are talking in here you'd think he's the team's answer to replacing Encarnacion.

Well the thinking is you could likely get a very good hitter with positional flexibility on a 2 year deal with a low AAV. If he breaks the bank no of course we don't want him.

Yeah, if he costs that, I don't make that move. I would be looking somewhere to find a high OBP, low K%, LH/SW bat, outfielder though. Do you have any ideas?

What about Angel Pagan?

If we are looking at cheap options for a corner OF spot, Jon Jay's average bat and average glove would be an option. Bats left-handed as well.

EDIT: Yeah Pagan is another cheap option BTS.

That's so specific wtf.

Just add value everywhere we can.

Nori Aoki

He's a bit old at 34 but he's kind of what I'm looking for. Of course, more power would be appreciated, but the contact, versatility, OBP, and LH profile could really help add some balance to this lineup.

He's not a bad choice, especially since he's a Switch hitter, though he's kind of around that decline stage now at 35 and doesn't have a great OBP/contact profile.

I'm thinking signing some guys like Pearce/Moss could be good. We could probably get huge value if we use semi-platoons for LF/RF/1B/DH.

I would definitely like some LH bats, Moss and Reddick are obviously the ones that jump out. Maybe Thames like mentioned earlier in this thread. Gotta think Thames would at least be a good guy to platoon with Pearce.

Do you have to be so douchey all the time?

The reason I'm looking for that is simple, we have openings in LF/RF, struck out a ton this season, and it would be nice to get some batting profile versatility like the Indians have with all of those LH/SW in their lineup. Obviously you look to add WAR wherever possible, but I think that combo would work nice in our lineup.

And where are you planning on finding a power hitting, contact hitting, versatile, OBP, left handed masher for this lineup?

I'd like to see Cecil brought back at something like 3/20. Have Grilli as a Latroy Hawkins type and sign someone else for high lev. If the team's record goes sour bullpen arms return great value at the deadline.

Also what about Matt Holliday for 1B/DH/emergency outfield? I don't have any clue what his health status is like, but he's not too old and he seems like he can still hit. Could be a good LH bat in a platoon.

Thames and Pearce platooning is a fantastic idea.

Trade the farm for Rizzo.

Power hitting and mashing is not a priority imo. We have plenty of that already, especially if we re-sign one of Edwin/JB, which is possible. Finding the rest of that is a possibility.

Yeah, Dexter Fowler would be a perfect signing. I really have no idea what he signs for this offseason.

Fowler will get a QO so it will cost us a pick. I think Shapiro and Atkins will try their very best to get pieces that aren't attached to QOs. That's why I think Reddick is a lock. I saw you guys talking about Beltran, I doubt Texas are gonna offer a QO and if not he could be an option if Bautista doesn't sign as a DH on his QO

Beltran didn't stay the whole year with Texas = won't cost a draft pick.

Actually we don't. Donaldson is really the only elite power guy. Tulo, Martin and Travis are all around average to slightly above.

Right! Don't know how that slipped my mind, especially if I knew Reddick won't cost us a pick. Thanks

Apropos of nothing, I wouldn't mind seeing Logan Forsythe pried away from the Rays. One year + 18 option. Can play 1B and 2B. But I suppose it's more sensible to just use expendable cash on upgrades at this point.

I am a little surprised no one has really mentioned Saunders. Wouldn't mind him back as a DH/OF role honestly, depending on the cost.

Any interest in Trumbo, could replace some power we might loose in Bautista and EE

No Thanks Trumbo is the exact opposite of what this team needs.

Luis Valbuena makes a lot of sense (I'm on about year 4 of saying this) if he isn't stuck on playing 3rd. Hamstring issues will bring down his FA value. I feel like the Jays need more guys that have some position versatility. I'd also see what Osuna could get in return.

No point in trading Osuna unless you are getting a Miller package in return. He's one of the best relievers in baseball making league min. You can trade him in a year or 2 when he starts to make more $ and you'll get just as much in return.

A lot of holes to fill...difference between him and a replacement is smaller than most players which have trade value.

Absolutely deal Osuna. In a heartbeat. He scares me going forward.
