RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 When are people going to understand hitting homeruns in the playoffs is how you win games? 3 of Cleveland's 4 runs this series have came on Homers. The Cubs won last night because of a big grand slam... why aren't we hitting any.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 why aren't we hitting any. Bad vibes. You have no belief. It's mostly your fault
baloojayz Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I think if everyone goes up there with the sole purpose of working the count we would be much better off regardless of whether they get on base or not. The current display is just embarrassing.

We're losing because our best hitters aren't hitting the meatballs that they normally hit.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 As a side note the coming off season can potentially the most interesting in the teams history
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I still believe in this squad. It wouldn't shock me if we head back to Cleveland up 3-2 or at the worst down 2-3 As Tulo said " we are going to make this interesting "

The current display is just embarrassing. Thats a f***ing terrible strategy. Thats how you get in these 2 strke counts then you have to protect the plate which either results in a strikeout or weak contact. I want my hitters swinging at the first good pitch they see because that can be a run right there, which obviously are difficult to come by.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Tickets are down to 65$US for Tuesday and Wednesday. Good time to buy tickets I think.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Stroman gonna put up a thousand captions on twitter and instagram

Like the batter gets credit if the pitcher is wild or is s*** on because they threw him 2 well placed strikes in a row which resulted in a quick out

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 As a side note the coming off season can potentially the most interesting in the teams history It will be for sure. The starting rotation is pretty set, but beyond that WOW. Potentially losing Bats, EE, Saunders, Dickey. I think signing EE and trying to land Reddick.

Some decent options for the OF: Joyce, Reddick, Pearce, etc. There could be a great platoon there, plus we have Upton. That would almost certainly bring more value than Bautista playing every day in the OF. I think if they sign a couple LF/RF/1B type guys and re-sign 1 of Jose/Edwin to be the full-time DH, the team will be in good shape. Almost every other position is set (besides the bullpen which could probably be fixed on the cheap)

Its understandable, a lot of times people just think they know better, they don't watch the games. Upton has been one of the worst players for the second half of baseball. Infact Upton was worse than Thole. But I know it sounds sexy right, we have Upton, Lefty killer, except he hasn't even hit Lefties since the trade really. Just sat there like a pug.

Upton was only worse than Thole because Thole had very limited opportunities to f*** things up. He has sucked though.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Upton has been good against lefties all year though... 132 wRC+ on the year, and 107 wRC+ since he was traded to the Jays. He is absolutely atrocious against RHP though. Upton should only ever see LHP and be a pinch runner/defensive replacement off the bench. Still a valuable piece to have.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 What are the chances the team gets better next year?
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Also Vegas odds on this game are -200 favorites for Stroman. Same odds as Sanchez pitching vs Colby Lewis. If we win tomorrow 2-1 doesn't seem so hopeless especially with them sending clevinger on Tuesday

And the portion of the salary they're paying is basically role player money.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Upton gets paid 5m by Jay's? Feel a lot better about that than 4m for smoak

Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 It's shocking some contracts you see in baseball. Do these guys with good years at the right time luck into good contracts? Why is someone paying upton so much? Like Jason heyward, anybody know what worst mlb contracts were this year?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 As long as we have strength in the rotation we will be right back here. Deep rotations are a key, every few years team like Orioles make it with luck but good starting pitching is what makes winning team. I hope we go out there and reload on the bullpen,

Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 So what do we expect to happ to regress a little, Estrada might get better, Sanchez should hopefully be about the same, and Stroman could get better, liriano most likely has a better year. Osuna improves, maybe squeeze grilli and Benoit a bit more, Cecil could bounce back, biagini could improve. What do we need one more good set up man? Pillar/upton/carerra in outfield who else would help, assuming Bautista leaves. Travis/Barney, Donaldson, Martin, tulo and Navarro, maybe Edwin and smoak. What else do we need? What's dickeys deal?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 a pillar/upton/carrera outfield will ensure a last place finish
