Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Yeah I guess, I just look at outdoors life to be in the mountains and not in Northern Ontario, I turned down a job once out on the border of Saskatchewan and Alberta even though they offered to pay me an extra $10k a year, couldn't do it, too small of a town I guess for me. Everyone has their own perspective, that's cool with me. I've got fishing, hunting, skiing, mountain climbing/biking, hiking, etc. right next to my house and after growing up that way I'd have a lot of difficulty giving it up. I rarely run into other people so it's almost like a private country sized outdoor playground for my friends and family. I do enjoy going to big cities and seeing the amenities that they have to offer as well. The appeal is perfectly understandable. You've also turned down money to live where you want. I think baseball players do it more often than people suspect. They are just like us in a lot of ways.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Alex was good when traded for Estrada. I wonder if anyone still wants Lind back instead. A lot of people hated on that deal.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 The cost of living is so low where I live than I can't imagine moving. I have a riverfront property only 3kms from downtown. No big city job is going to offer me the kind of money it would take to recreate that. I see relatives with much better salaries that live so much more poorly. The amount of money they spend just to ride on the pay highway, or park or rent a home are just repulsive to me. It's harder to get a decent job here but once you have one, you'd be a fool to leave.

I grew up in Aurora and when I was ready to buy about 10 years ago I realized I lived in a super rich town my whole life and decided not to live in a backyard shed.

I blow a gasket every time I go to a big city and see $20 parking. I didn't even know there was such a thing as paid parking until I went to see a Jays game when I was 14, as we don't have any here.
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Are expecting Game 4 and 5 next Monday and Tuesday to be the early game? I think this will be the case, a pair of 4 pm games.

CBlake Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Can one of the mods please change the title to Blue Jays vs. Cleveland out of respect for the First Nations citizens of our beautiful country and beyond. I would also ask everyone here to refer to the team as Cleveland or Cleveland Baseball club or even the Mistake by the Lake. https://www.thestar.com/sports/baseball/2016/10/11/jerry-howarth-refuses-to-say-cleveland-team-name.html

Over the past few years, a hot fashion item on Ontario First Nations’ reserves has been a T-shirt with the lettering “Caucasians” and the grinning logo of Chief Wahoo, the much-derided mascot of the Cleveland Indians major league baseball team. So they don't like it, and to show it, they do the exact same thing. Brilliant. I promise you if a native team was called Caucasians, I would not cry about it.
intrigid Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Gonna ask him to stop saying White Sox because it offends me. It's incredibly offensive. Not everyone is privileged enough to afford to be wearing downy white sparkling clean socks every day. I promise you if a native team was called Caucasians, I would not cry about it. I promise you these exact same people would be crying about it too. They'd say it implies white supremacy or something. They will always have it both ways.
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I will still and always love Major League. What a movie.

West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 This is a f***ing terrible analogy Everything offends people these days, it's pathetic. Sack up and get over it, every race on the planet at one time or another had a time of bad times, everyone move on people.

End of story And if you call almost wiping a race of the face of the planet just "a time of bad time" your just as dumb as he. What has the Caucasian race had to endure that is remotely close to that?

What has the Caucasian race had to endure that is remotely close to that? 1 million to 1.25 million white Christian Europeans were enslaved in North Africa, from the beginning of the 16th century to the middle of the 18th, by slave traders from Tunis, Algiers, and Tripoli alone. As I said, if you look back in history every race has gone through bad times, some worse than others but everyone has gone through tough times yet certain races tend to make a fuss about it louder than others. Perfect example are Jewish people, they had it extremely bad yet you never hear much from them complaining about s*** that happened not even 100 years ago.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Most of Toronto's main media outlets/personalties are pushing the PC/SJW agenda on this. I understand that some of these teams names are offensive, though I hope they make this series about baseball instead of focusing on the name of Cleveland's team.

Can't speak for Chicago or Boston, but where are you parking in NYC?! For anyones future benefit, grab online coupons. I've parked in plenty of places around the city for $40 for the day. Sometimes $15 if I get an early bird coupon. Just make sure you enter in your code 45 minutes before you plan on leaving the garage.

Depends where, I have parked in the Bronx for a Yankees game and got online deals too for around $20 but if you're anywhere south of Columbus Circle it's expensive as hell.

We were doing a Boston - NYC - Queens - Philly - DC - Baltimore baseball road trip so that's why we drove. I don't find driving in NYC too frustrating, Tokyo and Bangkok were terrifying though.
