Maahfaace Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Wouldnt really say he tried to injure Odor (who appears to throw at his head). Take a look at some of the slides into 2B that Odor has commited, makes Joses look like a walk in the park. Trump deflection
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Trump deflection Did we all forget that a guy who throws 100mph targeted and hit jose with a projectile at his team's behest, and after they knew Bautista would have no opportunity to retaliate for the rest of the regular season? If you think that Jose deserved to be punched for his slide, then you should also agree that any Ranger deserved to be targeted by a hard slide for their complicit agreement on Bautista's punishment. ESPECIALLY Odor, who has more than a few slides far worse than that one. Can we all stop with this nonsense and get back to the task at hand? I feel this thread is running out of steam but it had a good run considering I made it out of a spur of the moment jolt of elation and sore winner-ness.

I (and most of baseball) agree that Texas was completely in the wrong so I think everyone would probably agree (or at least not blame) us for targeting some of their athletes physically, if we chose to go down that path. I mean if you think about the whole series of events leading up to the punch, you'd have to agree that we saw arguably the most pussy move of any baseball team (or any group that's filmed on TV). Like I don't understand this at all. You boot the ball around for an entire inning in an elimination game, then hang a mistake pitch to our homer hitter who sends us to the ALDS and decides to flip his bat (in no direction towards Texas in anyway). The go on TV and tell everyone that we should respect the game more. The come to Toronto for a series, nothing happens. We go to Texas; nothing in game one, nothing in game two, then in the top of the 9th in the last meeting between the two teams, the manager and team pressures the new kid just fresh off a second chance and a bid in prison (who wasn't even on the team last year to have a connection with the bat flip) to hit Bautista in the ribs. I don't know how a group of grown men can think about the actions of another man for so long. Over what, the previous 8 months, all the Rangers did was sit at home and relive the bat flip everyday? That doesn't even sound good. I'm glad they got swept, serves them right for being some cowardly chumps

Just to get this thread on track: I think it's actually pretty unfair to the Rangers org to single out their postseason chokes this decade for the 2010 WS, the 2011 WS, the 2015 ALDS, and the 2016 ALDS. What a lot of people, including Sid Seixero, seem to forget is that the Rangers also lost a 13-game division lead in the second half of 2012, capping off that regular season with a rug sweep at the hands of the Oakland A's, who leapfrogged the Rangers for the West division crown. Luckily the Rangers had one last kick at the can in the debut of MLB's Wild Card game. However, they ended up losing 5-1 against the 93-win, +6 run differential Baltimore Orioles, scoring their sole run in the first inning on a double play grounder off O's starter Joe Saunders.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Holy f***, Joe Saunders I completely forgot that guy even existed
