HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 It's really not all that hard to hit a fastball if you know it's coming and you get enough tries. You can time the swing.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I just went 20/20 for contact in the 'fast' pitching machine (low 80s), I know that's not bragworthy but just saying 1000 attempts is a lot... lol You are definitely the next "Tebow" find Gov.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 You are definitely the next "Tebow" find Gov. lol this is how I'd probably look and then pass out after 30 swings http://mlb.mlb.com/images/6/2/2/205215622/100616_estrada_changeups_med_di5p5yb0.gif

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Anyone in good health who has swung a bat before can hit a 90 mph fastball if that's all they're seeing. They might not hit it well, but they'll put it in play occasionally.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 A bunt counts as a hit I can tell you that I am not squaring to bunt if I'm facing Chapman. In my youth I figure I'd make contact about 500 times. About 400 of those being foul. Now I figure I'm fouling off about 150. As for HR's I don't do that in Slo Pitch and hit maybe 5 out of the park in my life. So I'm happy for one lineshot over the infield.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Given 1000 chances, I'm confidant that I could make contact on a few, even if it's pure luck. Homer? Maybe at Fenway, and I managed to get out in front of one...

I need these 1000 in 20 pitch increments with a good break in between.
Joshtowers Verified Member Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 personally ive tried the highspeed pitches at centennial park which are no where near 90 mph. lets just say I swung right through them. I didn't even havr a chance to reset and the next one was coming in

I didn't even havr a chance to reset and the next one was coming in Some pitching machines are tough at 80+mph, you don't really have a chance to load up with regards to not being able to time a pitchers wind-up. You just end up slap hitting like Otis Nixon. 1000 swings? that might take 2 weeks with a few off days in there
