Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Who is on the hill for the O's? Almost definitely Tillman. Maybe Gausman. Wouldn't be surprised if Showalter pulls the starter early and their bullpen pitches the majority of the game.
Caper Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Everyone else agree what the lineup should be on Tuesday? Travis Donaldson Edwin Bautista Tulowitzki Martin Saunders Pillar Carrera I'll be pretty upset if Gibby puts both Bautista and Saunders in the outfield Thole © Smoak (1b) Saunders (lf) Upton Jr (cf) Carrera (rf) Barney (ss) Goins (2nd) Navarro (3rd) Pompey (Dh)
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Who is on the hill for the O's? Seems like Tillman or Ubaldo. They'll go to the bullpen really soon I'd imagine.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Given that you can reset the rosters after the wild card, I'd have Liriano starting with Stroman piggybacking and Estrada as the extra innings standby. Six relievers and 16 position players. Pompey and Goins both make a bench that deep. Then it's a toss up whether you want Smoak or Thole in for whatever limited strengths they bring to the table.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Thole adds nothing. Helps if they have to pinch run for Martin, then pinch hit/run later on for Navarro. But yeah that's a rare circumstance that would only really occur if there was extra innings.

Wouldn't be surprised if Showalter pulls the starter early and their bullpen pitches the majority of the game. Pretty much what I would do. He is going to want to give Givens Brach and Britton 5 innings to work with. For some reason I think the O's are dumb enough to put Ubaldo out there. It sounds crazy but he dominated Jays last week and they make decisions like that
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Lineup will be and it's crazy but we all know it will be this lineup Zeke Donaldson EE Bautista Martin Tulo Saunders Pillar Travis
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 C: Martin DH: Bautista 1B Encarnacion 2B: Travis 3B: Donaldson RF: Saunders or Zeke CF: Pillar LF: Upton Saunders has been utter trash as of lately and striking out WAAY too much Upton is just as bad if not worse..
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Well we knew it was going to be Zeke, Saunders, Upton.. pick 2.. Upton to the bench for sure. Saunders has been trash lately but he is good against Baltimores pitching staff, .397/.841/1.314 with 7 home runs in 63 AB this season. He should be starting
Waylanderz Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Almost definitely Tillman. Maybe Gausman. Wouldn't be surprised if Showalter pulls the starter early and their bullpen pitches the majority of the game. It is probably Tillman. Gausman got them the W on Sunday.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Do we know who's starting on Tuesday? Also, I really hope the Indians beat the sox Sportsnet crew have said "Liriano or Stroman" Gibby will have to decide today wonder when hello announce it though
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Whoever doesn't start should be prepared to go in early if the other gets off to a rough start
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Whoever doesn't start should be prepared to go in early if the other gets off to a rough start This. Between Stroman and Liriano we're going to need at least six innings, don't want a bullpen battle to develop as the O's have the advantage there.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Seems like Tillman or Ubaldo. They'll go to the bullpen really soon I'd imagine. All I know is we had better crush them early because we're getting 2+ innings of Britton.

Travis Donaldson Edwin Bautista Tulowitzki Martin Saunders Pillar Carrera I'll be pretty upset if Gibby puts both Bautista and Saunders in the outfield Agreed and don't worry, I think Bautista will be the fulltime DH with EE some times getting a rest and giving Smoak a look in. Especially with the way Carerra has been playing recently. I don't get why people hate him so much, yall need to realize that we need 9 batters on the team and out of a group of Smoak, Navarro, Upton that's not a bad choice, the only guy you can make an argument for is Upton.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I can't believe Carerra is a starter for a playoff team by becoming more valuable than Smoak.
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 When does this thing need to be set and handed in?
Mkdaman1818 Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Hard to argue with this roster. Sanchez and Happ would be unavailable, and no need for dickey and thole.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 I like the flexibility that Goins and Pompey give us as pinch runner and defenders. Could be important in the later innings.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 When does this thing need to be set and handed in? 10 am EST, tomorrow.

Agreed, also seems like Navarro won't be used as a PH unless we're absolutely desperate, since we're only rolling with 2 catchers. Navarro is the def replacement in case we pinch run for Martin.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Here is Zwelling's predictions for tomorrow. They usually put Zeke in LF and Saunders in RF don't they? I almost wish they'd just DH Saunders and put Bautista in the field. I have nothing to base that off of other than the eye test but it just seems like Bautista is better out there. He's made some decent plays running backwards and Saunders just sucks. I guess late in games though when they do a defensive substitution they don't really mind if they lose Saunders as much as losing Bautista.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 Gary Cederstrom will be the home plate umpire for the game. He is ranked slightly below average and favours hitters with a tight zone. Most importantly perhaps is he's pretty calm and probably won't throw players out.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 I can't believe Carerra is a starter for a playoff team by becoming more valuable than Smoak. that says more about Smoak being a steaming pile of s*** than Carerra being any good.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 What will our reset 25 man roster look like?

Bojangles Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 How does the playoff roster change for the ALDS? Happ, Sanchez in. 2 of Tepera/Loup/Feldman out? Or is Goins going to be left off?
