Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Oh really? s*** ok, guys the next person who gets a DUI here just tell the cop and court that you had an argument with your baby moms and see if they drop your case! And if the judge disagrees tell them they can't relate to reacting to an argument with a loved one by driving drunk to blow off steam!! Jesus - where were you when I suggested Lester was probably drinking and driving home from the NLCS party.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 This might surprise you, but I actually wouldn't make a value judgement on someone who got in an argument with their spouse and took their car out for a spin while over the limit. It's objectively unproductive, but it's also an understandable response to a serious stress. I don't think you really understand how much your actions are dictated by your genetics and experience, and how much a stressful event can cause you make irrational choices. It doesn't matter what he did was still WRONG. It's not like he had a mental issue, you might kill INNOCENT people. This is why educating people that a DUI is wrong will help future generations not repeat the same mistake. YOU don't take out YOUR issues hurting OTHER people. BTS I know he was stressed but if people give him a pass then people in the future will continue to do this like a never ending cycle. We need to teach there's other ways of dealing with stress. This isn't the 50s, we know a large part of deaths on the road is the result of DUIs
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Lmao ok bud. I have never seen anyone defend anyone for a DUI f*** out of here. I DD for my friends all the time because not only do I want them not to hurt themselves but not to hurt others but s*** I guess I'm wrong, let my boys go kill themselves because they got into an argument with their girls, because life is just a soap opera right? To be clear, I'm not condoning drinking and driving. I'm advocating empathy in lieu of lynching when someone makes an understandable mistake.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I admittedly didn't read the report about "smelling alcohol" - who smelt it? In the midst of a horrific accident, which I assume included a lot of blood, next to/in the ocean - you'd think it might be kind of hard to smell booze? There's also a chance they had booze with them and it could have spilled all over someone during the accident. Assuming the driver (we don't even know who it was) was impaired (simply because someone smelt booze) and declaring people scumbags seems a lot more erroneous than my assumption that Lester was probably over the limit when he drove the boys back to his house (while breaking traffic laws) after the NLCS...

No one's condoning drinking and driving/boating, etc... they made a poor decision on going out on the water when the water was rough and with very little visibility, not to mention if they were intoxicated or not, they payed with their lives. Where's your empathy? People make mistakes kid, it's tragic, please climb down off your soapbox is all BTS is saying. s*** happens, this is life. If some of your drunk friends are out drinking and you're not around, slam into a wall and all die you'd be singing a different tune, rather than pointing fingers and calling them scumbags... Jesus man, you're making me nauseous, we get it...Shut Up, please.

Apperently only empathy is allowed when discussing a death a month later after the event, no ones aloud to discuss it. No one can learn anything or have any takeaways from it.

Literally everyone knows drinking and driving is dangerous, including people who do it. Lack of education isn't the reason for the behaviour, and neither is being a selfish scummy bag of selfish scum.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 O.K. This is going south so I'm just going to lock it up.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Jesus - where were you when I suggested Lester was probably drinking and driving home from the NLCS party. He was DD'ing for Arrieta and Hendricks. Fatcow has his priorities in check and knows where the Cubs bread is really buttered. Not with some f***ing ex Red Sox which makes him a rapist by definition. Sorry KK, I'm a terrible mod for getting the last word when you closed the thread. BTS, Spanky, Fatcow et al. This is why we can't have nice things!
