Then you weren't reading very closely. Boyd was pretty highly regarded.

Wasn't he one of those cheap senior signs like Desclafani? Those guys don't get much hype even when they pitch well in the minors. Doesn't mean they can't be good of course.

Without those trades last year there is no iconic Bautista moment. 2nd most memorable HR in franchise history is worth giving up Norris, Boyd and all those prospects without a doubt. You could argue those trades weren't great at the time with the team being 6 games back but looking back on it they worked out amazing.

It was huge, but I still put it behind Alomar and Carter's, because we actually won the WS those years.

Anyway will you be enjoying the Daniel Norris start today?? As our former prospect attempts to screw us one year later??

I don't mean to be a miserable prick. I am just pointing out the irony here. After all the ******** you hear about how you need vets, and an ace and f***ing whatever else

The tigers are doing it with an old former ace with a bit of fumes left and a young staff (Fulmer, Norris, Boyd) acquired just a year ago..

What are you talking about? I'm not sure how you've turned the detroit tigers into the 2008 tampa bay rays in your own mind. The Tigers have a payroll of 173 million. The position of the Detroit Tigers has a lot more to do with Verlander, Cabrera, Martinez, Kinsler..etc than it does with Norris and Boyd.

Somehow the Jays are the Phillies and guys like Ozuna, Sanchez, Travis, Stroman, Pillar are overlooked. The Jays have a mix of young players and vets, just like the Tigers.

If they perform well enough they can get enough hype. Graveman was hyped around here when he was flying up the minors though not as much as Boyd. Boyd was always interesting but he didn't really start getting hype until he started peforming in AA. Same with Graveman. So I think thats when the older cheaper guys start getting interest.

There was also reports of Boyds velocity ticking up to the low 90s during the season he was in AA. He had spent the previous offseason at Driveline baseball.

Bautista's HR is more well known than Alomar's. I think even in 15 years that will be the case.

Agreed

1. Carter

2. Bautista

3. Alomar

To simply put, the Jays hold their playoff lives in their hands, take care of business and all will be good.

Jays chances of winning the division lives to see another day. I know it's like mentioning a perfect game in the 5th inning, but as early as tomorrow evening, the Jays could suddenly have a realistic shot at winning the division, instead of just a theoretical possibility.

You would still have to sweep the Redsox in Boston and come home and beat them at home.

You're right. I thought the H2H record was the tiebreaker, but I was wrong. H2H only ever determines home field advantage, not playoff seeds.

A three-game sweep is a realistic chance. 4 games is more in the realm of theoretical possibility. I guess any "realistic chance" could arrive no earlier than late Friday night.
