TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Have any of you guys seen this one? It talks about the Jays in October and how history will be made and how you can buy playoff tickets. Am I the only one who thinks this is grossly premature? There's no guarantee with how tight the race is that the Jays will even get a wildcard spot. I've only had time to tune in here and there lately, but I was pretty dumbfounded to see that commercial.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 It's been pissing me off for a while. You would think we were the Chicago Cubs

What are they gonna say? Maybe history will be made in October?
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 Why even elude to October when there's a very real scenario that they don't even make the post-season?
sawyerford Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Why even elude to October when there's a very likely scenario that they don't even make the post-season? They will make the postseason.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I wouldn't worry about it Pretty soon they will have the world cup of hockey to focus on. Then they will ask the big questions Can Syd the kid lead Canada to the world cup against countries where no one plays Hockey.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 They will make the postseason. I shouldn't have said "very likely scenario"... What I meant was there's a very real scenario in which they don't make the playoffs. If Boston takes over first place the Jays will have the Orioles and Tigers both right there vying for a wildcard spot, and there's a handful of teams below em who could still plausibly make a run for one... To presume that a playoff spot is already sealed is incredibly presumptuous... Especially given the way the Jays have played lately. Yeah, they out-slugged the Twins, and edged off the O's, but they don't look like they're firing on all cylinders right now. Not a good time to cool off. That commercial just seems wayyyyyyyy outta line. I mean, even if they do grab a wild-card spot... What if they get their ass beat in it? At least just wait till a playoff spot is all but clinched before they air adds like that... Good grief. I wouldn't be surprised if visiting ball-clubs air that commercial in their club-house to get amped up to beat the Jays.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 The Tigers and Astros are selling postseason tickets (surprisingly the Yankees are not). This is something every team does and the Jays are selling season tickets for next year in doing this. You are just being grossly premature.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 Have you seen the commercial? The whole commercials about how the Jays are gonna steam-roll everyone in the playoffs... Only until the end of the commercial does anyone realize that they're selling 2017 season tickets. I initially thought it was just a TV promo hyping the playoffs. Let's face it... The Jays are only 3 games up from falling out of a wild-card spot.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 My god, what a gross injustice these commercials are!
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 They will make the postseason. What are they, 50/50 right now.

CBlake Verified Member Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Never really a good idea to look ahead like that, be concerned on where you are now and build on it. But to tell you the truth having tickets to 9 of the Jays I dread the thought that last home stand means nothing and how a sold out stadium will react. Yeah even if they were to completely fumble themselves out of a play spot the tickets have been pretty much sold to the rafters. It would suck in so many ways. But hey either thought of making the post-season or completely missing it is beyond us right now.
