LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Navarro is obviously going 4-4 tonight
Vialotor Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 It really pisses me off a guy like Gibbons is running a WS contending team.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why are baseball managers so dumb? Navarro at DH, Reimold in CF, Tommy Hunter pitching in the 8th in a close game... Ugh. I think you can throw rolling the dice a 3rd time with Saunders vs Jimenez last night when he had pen help ready, in that discussion.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 If we'd had Navarro all year and the team re-acquired Smoak in the same way, we'd all be throwing confetti for at least getting a league average bat and glove in the lineup. I know the cop hat and cigar pic is meme-worthy, but are people just not looking at Navarro's numbers this year? The cop hat and cigar pic has got to be worth at least .5 WAR though don't ya think?
baseballsss Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I thought managers had little effect on the game?
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I love all the Navarro hate, now watch him get 3 hits.... LOL
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I thought managers had little effect on the game? Little is not nothing though. The batting order generally has little effect too. The concern is playing sub-optimally and for seemingly no reason (health, etc.). Every AB counts.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I thought managers had little effect on the game? Over the course of a season its meaningless, but it's still annoying to witness. We could bat Donaldson 8th and it wouldn't make much difference (see Ned Yost) but that doesn't change the fact that it is annoying to see.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I love all the Navarro hate, now watch him get 3 hits.... LOL Yeah probably
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why? he's capable of putting up professional AB's (even if he hasn't shown it this year) unlike Smoak who just closes his eyes and swings.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 he's capable of putting up professional AB's (even if he hasn't shown it this year) unlike Smoak who just closes his eyes and swings. But "closing his eyes and swinging" still gets Smoak more professional results than whatever Navarro's been doing this year.

ZIPS ROS: Navarro 75 wRC+ ZIPS ROS: Smoak 96 wRC+ ...that's a huge difference in projected performance going forward.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Navarro is obviously going 4-4 tonight Sombrero dorado?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Lets Go Blue Jays!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully we have the real offense show up for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Ok, but would you take Navarro at DH over Upton in the OF? no that's a different story, I just wanted to show everyone how much I hate Smoak.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 is the game late starting????

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 75 wRC+ Catcher as a 1B/DH = 40 wRC+ That's not how numbers work Ang.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 That's not how numbers work Ang. My bad.... Just park and league adjustment
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'm surprised there is so little talk about Saunders hitting clean up and Tulo pushed back even farther.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'm surprised there is so little talk about Saunders hitting clean up and Tulo pushed back even farther. apparently people would rather talk about how awesome Smoak is.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 75 wRC+ Catcher as a 1B/DH = 40 wRC+ wat
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 My bad.... Just park and league adjustment I thought Grubber hacked your account for a second. lol
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Saunders destroys Orioles pitching. Has looked good despite being in and out of the lineup recently.
admin Site Manager Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Smoaks garbage to so it really doesn't matter As bad as Smoak is, Navarro is 10x as bad. Gibbons is a f***ing joke. Smoak is atleast decent his last dozen games. Navarro is a backup catcher and being a DH is f***ing ridiculous. And one of your best hitters batting last. What a f***ing joke.
Vialotor Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'm surprised there is so little talk about Saunders hitting clean up and Tulo pushed back even farther. I have been wondering for months now why Martin keeps hitting ahead of tulo, stupid.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why the f*** does Upton need a day off with an off day tomorrow? Unreal..
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Gibby is slipping over the edge. The good news is that I don't think this management group will tolerate it.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why the f*** does Upton need a day off with an off day tomorrow? Unreal.. Because Gibby's boy is back.
