Little is not nothing though. The batting order generally has little effect too. The concern is playing sub-optimally and for seemingly no reason (health, etc.). Every AB counts.

Over the course of a season its meaningless, but it's still annoying to witness. We could bat Donaldson 8th and it wouldn't make much difference (see Ned Yost) but that doesn't change the fact that it is annoying to see.

As bad as Smoak is, Navarro is 10x as bad. Gibbons is a f***ing joke. Smoak is atleast decent his last dozen games. Navarro is a backup catcher and being a DH is f***ing ridiculous. And one of your best hitters batting last. What a f***ing joke.
