SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'd go Stroman, but Sanchez and Happ are good picks to, and if Estrada picks it up he'd be worthy as well....this all tells me our pitching is better then Boston and this will be a non issue, and thank god for that cause I could not handle watching a wild card game with the Jays in it!!!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 The pitcher lined up. In all honesty, I'd be happy with any of the 4 so yes, whoever is lined up on normal rest is fine by me. I wouldn't f*** with the rotation the last week in order to line a particular starter up. What a nice situation to be in actually
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 You don't think Martin would catch the WC game? WTF. Injuries are a thing, you never know.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why not? Gibbons needs to rest him for the next game. Da F? You want to rest Martin in a winner take all 1 game playoff? GTFO.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Da F? You want to rest Martin in a winner take all 1 game playoff? GTFO. Probably not but Gibbons is retarded and prob does ha
UWHabs Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'd be very tempted to plan on tag-teaming 2 of our starters. I really don't trust the pen all that much, so I'd be very tempted to plan for Happ or Stroman to pitch for the first 1 or 2 times through the order, then move to Sanchez for the next time through, then off to the bullpen after. With playoff off-days, it probably doesn't even really screw that much with the rotation that we'd use for the division series either.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Who does start it? Happ. Who should? Stroman. Should really piggyback two or three of them in a one game scenario. But this is irrelevant.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I'd go with Dirty Sanchez.
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 The thing is, the last few games of the regular season may also be do or die to even make the wildcard game, and so you may have to use your best pitchers THEN just to get to that one-game wild-card, so you'll pretty much have to use whoever is the most rested at that time for that game.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Don't know why Sanchez is leading Stroman has more post season experience and will handle the pressure better Also, Stro has 3 WAR, Sanchez 3.7 WAR but by the time the season is done they will be essentially tied Go with the hot hand
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Gotta go With Stroman I think... Sanchez wavering towards the end of the season.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Whoever is on 4 days rest not named Dickey
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Stroman is my pick. BABIP aside, the guy is trending more positively than anyone else in the rotation right now.
JoeCarter Verified Member Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 While it's a defeatist way to consider the question, the way I think about it is this: who could I "stand" losing with? i.e. Which guy(s) would I not have any misgivings about having started, even if he goes out there and gets lit up? For me that quickly narrows it down to Stroman or Sanchez. Start either of those guys and I'll live with the result, without second guessing whether I gave the ball to the right guy. And God bless Estrada / Happ for what they've given us this year -- we don't even sniff the playoffs without them, knock on wood -- but with Marco's wonky back and Happ's peripherals not being as impressive as his W-L, I don't think I could stomach the thought of a bad start from one of those 2 guys being the last memory of our 2016 season. I give it to Stro.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 One of Sanchez, Stroman, Estrada, or Happ. Whoever's turn it is. I'm not even worried about setting up Sanchez or Stroman to start that game. Jays have to win the division, or settle for the WC. They'll need all their good pitchers starting until the last game of the season most likely. After that, just leave it up to the randomness of a one game playoff.
