harvey16 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Yasiel Puig has been placed on trade waivers by the Dodgers. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/dodgers-place-yasiel-puig-trade-194753292.html Any chance the Jays take a flyer on him? Might be worth exploring with the possible departure of JB, EE and Saunders. Needs a major change in attitude but has the raw talent. Reclamation project that might be worth taking a risk on? Thoughts?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I'm pretty sure most teams place most of their roster on waivers. There's really no downside. It's not really news.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I would love to get him, but it's basically been said the Dodgers will not trade him until the offseason where more teams can fight for him
flafson Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Pretty sure half the teams are going to place a claim on him, nothing for them to lose.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Would love to add him. Great talent. Guy has to much fun for the boring one and done Dodgers.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 The Dodgers in a division race see no value in having this cancer play, why would you want him. Its not like his numbers are overwhelming either, Most likely he should go to a rebuilding market where he can mature.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 When the Jays put Rios on waivers who was on a similar deal, he had two 5+ WAR Seasons, and we didn't claim him back. Anything can happen.

Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 do not want this guy on my team at all.

AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 In all seriousness I'd take my chances on Puig before signing old man Bautista to a 2 or 3 year deal.
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Bautista was running slow around the bases today. I remember one play on a sacrifice fly, that it looked like he could have been tagged out at the plate if the catcher didn't drop the ball.

The brace on his knee worries me that the injury is not a sprain but a tear......
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 95% of players get put on trade waivers. This is so news worthy!!!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 He has been claimed Team has until 4 PM ET today to work out a deal
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 More tweets suggest Red Sox than any other team as the team awarded the claim Don't know if I believe that...

Unless I'm mistaken, wouldn't at least 20 teams have had the option to claim him before the Sox? I find it hard to believe that he got past that many teams.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 All the NL teams get to try first too right? Red Sox would then be wayyy down the AL list
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why would any team not put in a waiver claim on an asset like that? No way he got to the Sox imo. How would the Angels, A's or Rays not make a claim on him, for example?
flafson Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Probably more like 25 teams ahead of them. Only teams lower than the Red Sox are Blue Jays, Indians and Rangers.

How would the Angels, A's or Rays not make a claim on him, for example? You'd think an NL contender would have made a claim even if not interested in acquiring him. He has elite skills and is capable of absolutely exploding over a short stretch. You'd think that if he got to the -playoff teams, someone would have made a claim to block their rivals.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Plus every NL team gets to try first don't they?? Yeah.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 If a team makes a claim on him, don't they have to accept him (and his contract), if the Dodgers are willing to let him go for nothing?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 If a team makes a claim on him, don't they have to accept him (and his contract), if the Dodgers are willing to let him go for nothing? Yeah. But the Dodgers won't let him go for nothing, and 2/14 isn't really prohibitive anyway.
