Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I use to go to about 10 games a year when I was in high school (09-12) Then I got older and i missed april and september because I was at UWO, and most of my friends would rather just booze at bars on the weekend so I pretty much did that. Ive gone about 1-2 times a year since with my only game last month on a friday against the tigers. Beer is so f***ing expensive but I chugged a 200ml vodka before going in so I only needed 2 to have a good time lol It must suck that you have to be drunk to watch/enjoy baseball. No offense but I despise being around guys like at the game.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 In Boston, it's the Sheraton. Even saw the Chicago White Sox players there before the Jays series that weekend because got there on a Thursday. In Philly, it's the Ritz Carlton. In Cincy, I believe it's the Westin which is across the street from the Hilton downtown (where I stayed), since I saw some Jays players like Yunel Escobar and saw AA in the Westin lobby, since both hotels were connected by an above ground walkway, so always walked through there. Ah cool. I know in Toronto most teams stay at the Ritz and a few at the Four Seasons.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Only 4-5. Real expensive now but the 500's behind home are a good view still. I'll hopefully get to another playoff game or two. Same boat! I've went to 5, all 500 behind home plate. Possibly going next week and maybe 1-2 more in September. Defo going to spend my paycheque to get seats for post-season, I'm going to try to go to 1 DS, CS, and WS game

For one thing I had a number of friends who would go no where near those games.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Ah cool. I know in Toronto most teams stay at the Ritz and a few at the Four Seasons. Don't some also stay at the Westin Harbour Castle?
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Don't some also stay at the Westin Harbour Castle? No idea, my friend works in the kitchen at the Ritz on the morning shift and she said she sees baseball teams all the time when they play the Jays. I ran into Hosmer during the ALCS last year when I was grabbing lunch and it was right near the Ritz so I would say the Ritz might get most of the teams passing through, who knows could be a toss up.

I dont "need" to be drunk at all, but it makes for a good pre with the boys before we go out after. My friends are baseball plebs so they pretty much need to be drunk to enjoy what is happening. The 500 level IMO is fair game. Its mostly college bros anyway up there. Im mostly buzzed during the game and really cheer and get into the game. Why wouldn't you want that from the fans? In addition, if you want peace and quiet dont go to friday night games, enjoy your jr jays saturday. For what its worth I use to get the outfield seats near the opponents bullpen and would heckle the outfielders/bullpen guys sober in high school. Keep in mind like 10k would go to these games so you could actually exchange conversations with the opposing team. Most of them would just tell me they are making millions, etc... and Im funding their salary. Good times

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Well that's a big move..... so much to do and discover in Toronto.... getting around a bitch is all
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Not going west this year. two trips south east in stead would love to see a game though. maybe next year

I can't stand the obnoxious drunks who know jack about the game (which sounds like your friends) who leave half way through innings because getting more beer is top priority. Trust me I have friends like this too. I just rarely go to games with them anymore.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Use to go about 5-10 times a year but I haven't been to one yet this year Too busy saving for a house and wedding right now and it's an easy $200-300 day to drive to game.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I've taken my 6 year old to 2 games this year. The massive comeback (D.Travis walkoff) vs. the Red Sox and the Canada Day game. 2 of the best days of my year.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Employer flew me down for a few games which was great, otherwise it would've been zero. Haven't done a trip to see my family in Kitchener this summer and paying for a wedding and other expenses has killed my disposable income. Generally came down for 10-15.
Yorkshire Blue Jay Verified Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 The better half and I have been to about 30 games so far and are going to about 10 more starting on Sunday. Not a certainty to get allocated playoff tickets as only bought 3 separate 20 ticket flex packs, we both bought them to increase our chances and if we only get a one seat allocation each. Luckily we have been able to pick up some last minute stubhub bargains. The wife is a big fan which also helps. Though I feel for the fans that can't go for saving, with our success window likely closing we decided to double up on tickets this season and take next year off which will also help to boost the savings that have taken a hit this year.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I haven't been to a Jays game since the late 90's (I'm English) but I've got tickets for the 1st game vs Boston at Fenway in the last series of the season. Should be a good one! Also going to a Nationals vs Diamondbacks game earlier in the week when I'm in DC - it's Ben Revere garden gnome day! http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1606&d=1475029559 Why would anyone want this? At least a bobblehead can sit on a desk. And why Ben Revere of all people?

Yeah, what a strange player selection for a give away, wonder how long some lined up for that LOL ( :, by the way after attending the Jays O's on Thursday, I will have attended 32 games this regular season. Have not attended that many in a single season in ages, likely sometime when my family had season tickets from 1987 thru 1998.

He didn't even start despite Harper injury and division already won. 32 games is impressive, hopefully playoffs give you a chance to get to 40
