HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Josh Thole (and Dickey) better read into this
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 A Thole DFA would be a nice gift going into the long weekend.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 A Thole DFA would be a nice gift going into the long weekend. Thole 106 PA 26 wRC+ -0.3 fWAR
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Thole 106 PA 26 wRC+ -0.3 fWAR Kratz has been far worse... almost unheard of territory.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Thole 106 PA 26 wRC+ -0.3 fWAR Kratz is s*** too, I read somewhere here that he's not as good a framer as he was before
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Lets see what hes got. Liked him when be was here.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Erik Kratz, taken in the 29th round of the 2002 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Our manager that season was Buck Martinez and led by our brand new GM, J.P. Ricciardi, we took Russ Adams in the first round. Second overall in that draft was a young man named B.J. Upton.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 They both project to be around 60 wRC+ guys ROS. It's a minor league deal and has some experience catching Dickey so why not?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 A Thole DFA would be a nice gift going into the long weekend. We know that's not going too happen.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 There are some things we can look forward to others not so much

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 A Dickey/Thole trade would be better, but I'll settle for Kratz over Thole (it has to be at least a noticeable defensive upgrade if nothing else).

Thole has actually been really good at catching Dickey, not sure if you know this or not but it's hard to catch a Kuncler
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Josh Donaldson has experience catching too.

We took Russ immediately before Cole Hamels and Nick Swisher lol.

Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Rather watch Thole, and that's pretty f***in bad.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Josh Donaldson has experience catching too. That's like an off topic comment a bot would post, good grief.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Someone needs to be our back up catcher when we trade Dickey and Thole away on Monday and replace them with Chris Sale. I guess the only real question now is, who is after Dickey? And what's it going to take to get Sale?

I guess the only real question now is, who is after Dickey? And what's it going to take to get Sale? Nah... I'm pretty sure signing Kratz indicates that Dickey is staying around and that the team is protecting itself in case of a Thole injury. Kratz is the new Mike Nickeas.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 We're talking about backup catchers. It's totally relevant. There's no world in which JD becomes a backup catcher. He's the Martin got ejected and the backup just keeled over, last ditch option.
spats Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I keep checking our system for possible back up catchers and Lavarnway never gets a mention. On further inspection, I now know why. His career minor league numbers .285 and .375 obp look pretty good but his major league numbers .198 and .258 are Tholeesk and I don't know anything about his defense.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
