fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Class A prospect? Oh f*** off what happened to not pillaging the farm system?? Edit: Wait is it an A prospect or is it class A as in he plays in Dunedin?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 So Upton goes into right and Bautista into DH Smoak the newest extension to the bench

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I always wanted Pompey up here and Bats to DH, but this is nicer.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Would be sad if it's Pentecost, since we've really gutted the farm the past two seasons. But we're getting a solid defensive outfielder that could find his swing at the Rogers center with some degree of control left? (correct if wrong)
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Class A means Lansing lol Probably Pentecost lol fatcow Whew!!!!! Hopefully not Pentecost but the hold up sounds like it could be him. Isn't Ryan Foley down there too? You guys don't understand I woke up thinking we traded Alford for Upton
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I would be absolutely shocked if it's Pentecost. Shocked.

vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Class A means Lansing lol Or Dunedin or Vancouver. Either way with it being a single prospect it makes me wonder how much salary the Padres are eating presuming it's not a high end prospect.

Dunedin is Advanced A-Ball Vancouver and Bluefield are considered short season ball.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Knowing the Jay's they waited until now to save them a plane ticket.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 Smart trade as insurance for Bautista/Saunders. I'd like to see the Jays let Bautista go and re-sign Saunders and Edwin. Will be interesting to see how much salary is retained in this deal.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Knowing the Jay's they waited until now to save them a plane ticket. I remember a couple of years ago when Ichiro went to the Yankees WHILE the Yankees were visiting Seattle. I imagine some fans showed up to the park to see Ichiro come out in pinstripes and were like 'wat'.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I'm guessing Perdomo is the main piece in return.

If they traded for him days later and him just chilling in Toronto waiting for the Orioles to arrive.

xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 If the blue jays had payroll flexibility I still don't understand why they didn't sign a free agent reliever this offseason like Clippard.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Decent piece. 28% K rate and doesn't BB much. His D numbers are ok, but he is a long way from the 5 WAR player he was in 2008. Upgrade over Junior Lake and Zeke who is crashing back down to earth. Not much to see here folks. Hope we didn't give up Pentecost.
mellowgold Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Upton can be a pretty useful player if used properly. Even when he's not starting he can be used as a defensive replacement, pinch runner, pinch hitter in certain scenarios, etc. The guy does bring some skills to the table. Perhaps the best news out of this is this all but guarantees we don't have to watch the mushroom this year. Assuming Upton sees his share of starts in the outfield and pushes Jose/Saunders DH, Edwin to first and Smoke to the pine, there is absolutely zero room for Colabello.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I'm guessing Perdomo is the main piece in return. Margot, Espinosa..... San Diego really like Mexican prospects

With Colabello not being eligible for the playoffs I don't think we were going to see him anyways.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
