G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 I wouldn't even give this any airtime if it weren't for the fact that Rosenthal is reporting it Trades that he reports are close tend to become reality pretty often and often very quickly
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 Another player that the Rays were smart to let walk to get big $$ elsewhere Did they get a comp pick for him?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 BJ is pretty much warm garbage, strikes out a ton, doesn't walk, has almost zero pop in his bat the last 3 years before running into a few this year. He plays passable defense, but he is prone to some serious slumps at the plate where he looks absolutely lost at the plate ala justin smoak. Hes not BJ from 2011 and prior. Dont need him, much rather the jays go after some help for the pen. You clearly haven't watched Baseball outside of the Blue Jays this year. Retarded post.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 You clearly haven't watched Baseball outside of the Blue Jays this year. Retarded post. What's off with his post? Upton is k'ing nearly 30% this season with a .304 OBP and -1.7 Def WAR. His wRC+ is league average at .100 as well.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Cause Saunders doesn't deserve to lose any playing time that's for sure Bautista could DH and Edwin 1B but then was does Smoak do? (I wouldn't care if it weren't for his new contract extension) This move is solely because the team has said Bautista is DHing a lot more down the stretch. Smoak doesn't deserve to be on the team, but he is a decent defensive replacement late in games. Smoak signed an extension solely as an emergency option for next year....assuming we resign no one.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 If they would take back Storen and send us about $8M, they'd effectively be eating half of Upton's remaining money. At that point how much do you think we add on top?Decent pitching prospect with some helium like Perdomo, plus a lesser piece or two?

Since the second half of last season he has quietly rebuit his career in an extreme pitchers park. Yes hes going to strikeout. But hes going to provide power, speed, and quality defense on either corner with a throwing arm. A vast improvement over every Outfielder we have not named Pillar. This also parks Smoaks ass on the bench.

Look at the ball park he is playing in 3. Look at the other teams in his division 3/4 have ok to great pitching. 4. Look at the ballparks in his division Overall I would expect the offensive numbers to get increasingly better on our team.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Thank you Again, orginal post said this isnt circa 2011, BJ has been below replacement level for the last 3 years prior to some HR luck this year

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 A 2 WAR OF has value, and that's pretty much what he is now. Not someone I'd pay $16M to, so depends how much SD is covering. Upgrade over Smoak in 2016, and OF depth for 2017 if/when JB and MS leave.

He's not pull happy any more, much like he was early in his career. That's a HUGE departure from the last few years.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Only person fighting for Zeke to stay on the roster.... Speaking of players who caught a lucky hot streak. And continued in the leadoff spot for another 3 weeks despite not hitting at all.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 BTW, Why isn't he BJ anymore? He might have to bring it back..Blue Jay Upton.
