BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I think they're good enough to be a playoff team.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Is this team good enough? Those are the questions you have to start asking. Not with the current bullpen At this point the team should release Cecil and Storen unless someone wants them
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Is this team good enough? Those are the questions you have to start asking. The team is old... If the team is not good enough this year when is the next time they will be good enough?? If the answer is > 2018 then is the ballsy move to trade Donaldson?? Or do you just ride him out and attempt to build something in 2017/18?? This is not unreasonable... The last 4 days have been devastating... 11/12 games went against us. playoff odds have probably been halved.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 **** the O's. BTW, the Jays are better than a year ago--we were 46-46 this time last year. And outside of Houston, no one is close to threatening the Jays in the wild card, showing the Rays collapse and overall mediocrity in the AL Central and West, along with a bad Yankees team.

I only see 1 team threatening Toronto and Boston/Baltimore--and it's Houston, who actually have a shot for their division because the Rangers are in free fall due to crappy pitching that makes Toronto look good. Nobody else looks like a threat in the wild card.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 How many 1 run games are the Jays gonna lose lol...just not clutch at all They should have just not scored the extra run in the 9th so that idiots wouldn't whine about the "1-run game record"

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Is this team good enough? Those are the questions you have to start asking. Is the team good? Yes. Good enough to win the division over similarly talented teams (Boston) or a team that seems to win 90+ games every other year regardless of talent level (Baltimore)? That's the main issue. Last year the East looked pretty winnable. Now the Jays legitimately have to be good just to stay within striking distance. I just hope they are either in a good spot or far enough out of it where they can trade vets by the deadline. The latter seems unlikely, but good god, I want to avoid the 83-79 area like this team has always seemed to be in. It's no fun.

So Houston could easily run away quickly to... If is entirely possible that the jays could have playoff chances reduced dramatically before the deadline... they already have been reduced big time last 4 games... It's been like a 1/500 event (4 sox wins in a row. 4 Orioles wins in a row. 3/4 jays losses.

Run away with the AL West possibly--Texas has lost 11 of their last 14 because the pitching has imploded, causing them to lose 5.5 games in the standings to Houston. Even with Darvish back, it won't do much good.. losing Holland and Lewis really hurts, plus the depth in the Rangers system in pitching sucks..
sawyerford Verified Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Jays will win the division. Book it now, f*** the O's f*** the Sox and f*** the Rangers.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 PVRED the game. Managed to avoid anyone telling me the score all day. Decided I couldn't watch it without knowing if we won. Opened up my app and saw we lost and Bosox and O's won. Mercifully skipping it and moving on to tomorrow. f*** I hate losing to the A's.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 this team isnt going to win the division without serious help from trades, which we wont get. look for a wild card and pray for an extended run.
