Abreu, much like Puig has fallen off considerable after taken the league by storm when they first entered the league (I feel like there are other examples of this too, but they aren't coming to mind). Is this a coincidence, or is it becoming a trend for Cuban hitters?

Cespedes has been consistently good.

The right move for them

Not saying its not just kind of takes us out of it if true.

Takes us out of the divison race or race to Cashner? The Orioles are the most flawed team out of the 3 even if they get those 2 their rotation remains s***, plus idk why we're after Cashner in the first place he's struggling in the huge park in San Diego... He's going to get lit up here

Upton tho I want

Actually he was an example too as he started hot and fell off....it was only last year that he turned it around

What? No I want Upton not Cashner. And no regardless of what the Orioles do would concern me. Its what the Red Sox could do what scares me. It looks like they are pretty happy with what they got now though. They have the prospects to get a Chris Sale and still have a top 10 system.

Oh sorry then i 100% agree with you, I really want Upton

Lots of Jays fans want him, but he's pretty much expensive Carrera. Maybe a bit better, but the same skillet.

How does he have the same skillset? Carrera is more of a contact hitter, Upton strikes out a ton and struggles with his OBP but their power is not comparable. Defensively it's debatable but I think Upton is probably still better. Regardless their skillsets are very different.

Yeah but $11m > rookie deal.

I also just really don't like Abreu lol

Abreu would be a nice transition from EE, obviously not as good but one of the best options to replace him. The problem is they just signed Smoak and trading for Abreu would be the writing on the wall for Edwin's exit, which would potentially hurt the team's chemistry down the stretch.

I was speaking more in a general sense. They are average corner outfielders that can handle CF, they are lefty bats that are decent this year but can't be counted on, and they both have good speed. Swapping one for the other won't change anything for us.

Upton is a RH hitter but okay I see what you mean I was just being a goof and nitpicking

My mistake, you're right.

Heyman tweeted that the Jays and O's are the favorites to land Upton.

Does this mean JB or Saunders will be at DH for the rest of the season while the new OF plays RF or LF? I'm down with that. Sorry Smoak.

If Steve Pearce is available like it's being said he is, Jays really need to get on that. Good hitter, versatile defender, very good glove at 1B, can play OF and even 2B adequately. I don't think the Rays would have a big issue dealing him to the Jays.

They'll ask for a lot though, no?

33 year old free agent at the end of the year. Probably not.

I'd rather use our assets on pitching.

Why? We dont need pitchers. Theres not a lot of leverage to be had there. A good bench bat and Smoak platoon would be great though.
