THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I can see it now. Clubs will start encouraging their infielders to stand on the 1st base side of 2nd base. If they got touched in anyway by the fielder, it will be automatic out. MLB are full of f***tards Yep, just flop like it's the NBA. Stand in front of the bag on a baseline and if the runner grazes you just do this: http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view3/4625487/award-of-the-best-actor-in-nba-o.gif
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 This is about to get really ugly.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Exactly.... So what happens now if the players just start blocking the base and letting the runner slide into them? Automatic overturn because the runner made contact? The fielder gets spiked somewhere without any protection and doesn't do it again lol. Who knows how the replay would go, but the rule would be changed within a week guaranteed.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Not really. Pillars slide was too aggressive he took out the legs of Hernandez, it was dangerous. No intent to injure though only intent to stop the DP. So in the eyes of the new rules it's correct but still stupid
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 It almost certainly won't happen during the season. But this rule definitely needs some tweaking. I'm sure the league and the players' union or whoever is responsible will discuss this once the season is over. There's good intent behind the rule, it is however not being properly executed. Given some of the recent changes (addition of replay, home plate), I have faith in the MLB to resolve this. I remember people complaining about the pussification of the league following the Posey rule, I'd say that talk had considerably died down until the (imperfect) implementation of this new slide rule.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Not really. Pillars slide was too aggressive he took out the legs of Hernandez, it was dangerous. Looks more like he's trying to avoid getting knee'd in the head, which is a surefire way to get a concussion.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Not really. Pillars slide was too aggressive he took out the legs of Hernandez, it was dangerous. Herrera is standing right in the base line and made no attempt to clear while in throwing motion. You're wrong.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 I stepped away for a few minutes and missed all the action. How about that Goins kid..
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 s***, Edwin might have missed his best pitch to hit there. EDIT: NVM lol

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Two more RBIs for the hottest player in the MLB !!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I'm glad Pillar got called out. All things being equal, the Jays should win this game anyway...but calls like that can be used as glue to unite a team. The players can band together and just use this as another example of it being them against the world. Leverage this into a great big middle finger to MLB and the rest of the league.
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Herrera is standing right in the base line and made no attempt to clear while in throwing motion. You're wrong. I'm not wrong I just don't like seeing players in a position to get injured. Hopefully Pillar gets a fine, that should teach him not to do it again.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Another great at-bat. An absolute throating thus far. And the umpires took a mercy run off the board.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Ugh. Gonna puke if he is in a sox uniform next year.
